Communication Catastrophe Wednesday, April 13, 5:00pm. I truly wish I could talk about the food, but sadly, our party never even got to try it. Wings on Kingsway gladly accepted the reservation for our group of 11, two weeks ahead of my friend’s 30th birthday. Invites were sent out, carpools were organized, all was in order for what we hoped would be a food-filled evening of merriment. But hopes are often dashed, and ours was no exception. As it turned out, the staff at Wings chose to disregard the reservation — despite us having made it well in advance — and instead book the entire restaurant for a private function. The icing on the cake? We weren’t even notified until we arrived on location and saw the«Private Function — Closed to the General Public» sign hanging starkly on the door, our party wide-eyed and slack-jawed in disbelief. Rather than take responsibility for their clear blunder, the staff offered an «apology» that sounded more like an accusation. «Sorry, we can’t take your party… We tried calling you THREETIMES today.» This line was repeated to me by several staff members, including the manager, almost as if it were a mantra that, if repeated enough times, would shift the blame on us. The accusatory tone was infuriating enough, but I take issue with the line for a number of other reasons:(1) Why call to notify us on the day of the reservation? The attempt should have been made ahead of time, like, oh I don’t know, when they decided to create the scheduling conflict in the first place, perhaps?(2) If — for whatever reason(even though there are none I can think of) — calling on the actual day was the only option, why not leave a voicemail? The phone number I gave the restaurant has a voicemail which I check regularly, and that simple gesture would have given our group at least a few hours to make alternate plans. Alas, I understand my objections are moot now, and what’s done is done. Defeated, tails between our legs, we slipped off into the night, with nothing to show for our efforts except our growling empty stomachs… For anyone still reading, this story DOES have a happy ending: food-filled merriment was indeed had, albeit in a different location than what we had previously envisioned. Thank the gods for River’s Reach pub in New Westminster!

Went here with some friends one night to grab a few drinks. It happened to be the same night as the Canucks were playing, which meant beer specials and a jersey card with a number on it. If the Canuck with that jersey number scored a goal, you win! What do you win? I have no idea. Still, I thought it was pretty neat. Our server was quick to greet us and throughout our visit she was attentive and friendly. We ordered a couple pounds of wings and some fries. The wings were so good! I can’t remember what flavours we ordered, but I’ll definitely have to come back to try some more. After finishing a pitcher of beer, we decided to order another round of beers. I was undecided if I still wanted to snack on something, so I asked our server how the Mac N Cheese bites were. She said they were good but there weren’t many of them. I said I’d think about it and let her know later if I wanted to order them. I guess she misunderstood me because an order of them came to our table. I didn’t know if it was my fault or not, so I ate them anyway(they were good) and didn’t complain when they were on my bill(I mean, I DID eat them, so it only makes sense to pay for them). I’m sure if I had asked her to take them back, she would have. Next time, I’ll be more clear when I’m ordering though.

Came on a Tuesday. Food took half an hour to arrive and the wings arrived cold. Manager would not honour our gift certificates that THEY issued to us even though the fine print made no mention of using two gift certificates at one table. Furthermore, they had mentioned the last time that we could use both but told us not to as the total amount was less than our gift certificate amount so we opted to save it for another day. Our server was caught in the middle but didn’t make up the rules and she was nice. The manager seemed to be making up the rules — first the system doesn’t let you use two gift certificates at one table and then back peddling and saying that the gift certificate states that it’s one per visit. Obviously, he was not able to show us where that was on the actual certificate. We do get our wings in the end and are then punished by having to wait another half hour for our three pounds of wings(after already having to wait a good chunk of time before the manager could come talk to us because he stepped out.) All in all, more than two hours wasted at Wings for two platters and some wings. Thank you and have a nice day. Hopefully not at Wings.

Met a friend here for some drinks and appies. I was really impressed with the food. It was really good especially for pub food. The price was quite reasonable and the servers were very pleasant and helpful. The ambience was not bad too, very relaxed and casual.

This place seems to survive based on its past of good service and friendly staff. Nothing like that nowadays. The food is mediocre at best, and the staff will let you hanging there until you almost stand up and leave.

Not going to lie I love all the wings restaurant I have been to the surrey Langley white rock & coquitlam one and this one is the worse. Service wise, the staff, the restaurant itself. did not enjoy the experience at all, left the place with two full box of food that won’t be eaten but felt force to take with us so we wouldn’t look rude. Go to other Wings for better enjoyment and I’m assuming this one is owned by a different independent owner or they just didn’t care about this Wings restaurant as much as the others. I do not recommend.

We had our post valentines get together in here, typical pub house, tons of people having fun and mostly watching sports all are drinking and feasting on their 25 flavors of wings. noise level is high, good foods, reasonable price for the drinks, wash room is pretty neat. free parking and accept all kind of cards… group friendly… average place to eat and drink

I come here every now and then as its close to where I live. The food is decent here. Wings are good, dry ribs are good. I quite like their steak sandwich. However service is quite questionable. It seems most of the time they are under staffed as our server disappears for long periods of time and even if you try to flag someone down they’re hard to find.

Tried the Greek Steak($ 13), as recommended by the waitress. Not sure how they make steaks in Greece, but this was literally a steak served on top of a pile of fries that had«Greek salad» ingredients(like tomato and cucumber) mixed in. There was a blob of tzatziki plopped on top of the steak too. I was scratching my head for a bit. One bite though, and I was sold. This was some seriously good steak. Special mention. One of the most tender ones I’ve had in a while. The tzatziki works really well here too. I enjoyed every single bite. Beautiful. The Greek salad fries worked out really nicely as well, in terms of flavour. A bit of feta cheese sprinkled in would’ve added to the«authenticity» and the flavour, but maybe they’re trying to keep costs down too. I also had a pound of their wings(forget which flavour, it was a mix of Buffalo sauce and something), but they were quite good. I wish the pricing were a bit more competitive. I will definitely be back to eat this the Greek steak again, and maybe try another of their specials. Upgrading my review to 4 stars.

This is by far… one of the worst dining experience of my life. It’s Sunday, I am a huge NFL fan. my buddy says cheap wings at wings, no brainer right. So it start off fine we ask too be seated outside, as we need lots of space for our party of 10. Our server a little Caucasian girl takes our orders for beers and wings and other drinks. I assumed she will separate the bill being as we are a big party with not all the people there yet. drinks come wings come everything’s fine, wings are little over cook but whatever it’s on special. now it will be 30 too 45 min till I see her again. table messy, drink empty and most important me thirsty lol. She comes by again, me and the others order more drinks .me and my friend order the steak special, it comes with a glass of wine and cheese cake dessert. She brings the food and drinks. now it will be around 30 to another 45 mins till I see her again. Table full of dirty dishes more importantly I’m thirsty lol .I say dammit !! in order too get drinks here we will just order pitchers of beer too last us throw the service drouts. I order two pitchers of beer at a time now. she comes by every 35 mins now. my buddy does the same in 35 mins. now for the bill ! it not separate at all. I do all the math myself wtf. My buddy still has not gotten his order of wings yet buts it on the bill. soo we tell our server he still does not have his wings. we wait about 15mins for that. Upon her return she says the kitchen says it’s been send out must of went too wrong table. We are trying too leave now for 25 mins so far. my friend does not care, he’s full from all beer and eating my wings. He tells me «your gonna get mad be mad about the two dessert you never got ». Fuck I totally forgot about my dessert from the two steak specials. This is the only time she come by in timely fashion too get her tips and the bill. oh yeah the last of our party waited almost 30 mins too order their drinks but she give them for free. I tell her she forgot about our two desserts she like oh sorry it will be right out. Do u want blueberry or chocolate. I get blueberry my friend gets chocolate. she takes her tips and the bill. It’s 20 mins later! I ask other waitress, I think she forgot about us again. This server get us our dessert in 5 mins. the desserts look like one dessert cut in half. Guess what !! their both blueberry my friend wanted the chocolate one. I do not eat it, I just put my fork into it for the principle and leave. My buddy tells me two mins after I leave the manager was tolled about bad service and give him a free coupon for a pound of wings. big fucken whoop. Worst pub experience ever I waited almost a hour 15 mins too leave once I got my bill !!.

Love them wings! Pasta! Burgers! And pretty much any special that I have tried so far. I went there for a quick bite with one of my gf every week and it was great! The service could have been better as the staff came to us after a while each time.

Questionable food, flaky service, and a mediocre atmosphere. I will not be returning to Wings… LIMITED vegetarian options, and what is available isn’t very good. NOVEGANOPTIONS.

I went in with a girlfriend tonight and ordered some food to share. I don’t have complaints over the food, but major complaint of our server. My beer went empty and there was no offer on a second one, fine. Our first check in from the server to see how we’re doing was when we were ¾ done with our wings and pasta. When we were completely done, another 15 minutes went by, we had to flag her down to order the cookie dessert. She said it will take 13 minutes, and we were willing to wait. After about half an hour, I waved her down again and asked about our cookie. She went to the back to check in on it and told me the chef had burnt it and will be another 10 minutes and it will be on the house, or if we just want to take it off the bill. If the chef had burnt the cookie, I blame the server for not checking in on it and order a second one for us right away. She constantly said new chef, kitchen is a messing up, not taking any ownership over the fact that she did not check in on our order; or perhaps put in the order at all! The restaurant was not busy. I’ve gotten much better service on their Sunday wings night than this night.

So happy management opened for the Sochi gold medal men’s hockey game(4am PST). Service was great even with reduced staff. The wings were delicious.

I come here once in a while to grab a beer and some wings with friends. Price isn’t that bad. Wings are average, and so to the other dishes they have. I can’t complain really about the service and it’s a convenient place for all of us to meet up. The highlight, though, is the Bobby Wing, which requires a waiver to eat. This is one thing to try if you want to see the true colours of a man. I do enjoy spicy food, but after one wing, I reach for any source of available liquid like a young boy crying for his mother. The smell alone is enough to drive fear into a strong man’s heart. One whiff and strong, confident faces of true men transform into the pale faces of terrified ghosts. But I’m the best, mayne, I deed it. I finished that damn wing. And you can, too. As long as you believe in the heart of the cards(and your digestive system)~ DaSHAWN«Gwiyomi» Haynes-Warren

Solid 3.5, not much along this part of Kingsway but it’s the go-to for the locals who live by Highgate. Good thing going is they’ve been here for years, so that’s somewhat assuring lol. Ordered the chicago salt & pepper, good-size wings, with right amount of crispness along the edges and seasoning too. You’d be happy to make a good choice coming here. Not just sure if I’d be running back anytime soon but it’s recommendable. big parking lot.

I come here to chill, without having to be worried about parties of families or kids running around. A decent place to have a beer and relax. They specialize in wings, but also have lots of other food options. The wings here… aren’t good. Sure they may have lots of variety, but the flavors aren’t «awesome». It also kind of bugs me that their quality isn’t consistent. I’m pretty sure they use whole wings and separate them, hence my 1lb of wings with tiny wings and probably not even a pound since another order had the same amount of wings but where bigger. The wings are doused in sauce of your choice… but when it makes it to the table it’s cold and soggy. Ugh. This has happened ¾ times I’ve come here. Their nachos are good though, sometimes soggy, but lots of ingredients, so it’s ok i guess? Service is meh. They aren’t very attentive… usually too busy not doing their jobs. I’d rather go downtown or even coquitlam for better wings and service. Where servers can put on a smile. But hey, if you don’t want to be bothered and don’t mind not having your drink refilled… come here!

Had another amazing night at Wings this weekend with my friends for her 19th birthday! Yes, she is finally legal, so we celebrated at Wings and then we went clubbing for the night! We had an amazing time at Wings filling up our tummys with amazingly cheap Wings on Sunday night. We ordered all the flavours from the menu in our table as everyone was there celebrating, and then had a couple of drinks before we hit the club. The place is still snazzy as ever. With the nice waitress, and the freindly service. She wasn’t hesitant to serve our table at all, she was very up beat and out going. Thanks Wings for another amazing night that went amazingly well! :D

I just don’t get it. I just don’t. The wings are decent — but nothing amazing. $ 0.39 wings all day on Sunday — okay, I know poultry is getting expensive but it’s not exactly ‘cheap’ in my book. I think it’s a fair price — but my jag-off buddy likes the idea of ordering a 100 wings at a time for $ 39. Seriously — be smart and don’t order so much at a time unless you like cold wings and want to look like a douchebag. I really couldn’t tell the difference between one flavour and the next(they claim over 20 flavours — to me, it was just ‘dry’ and ‘wet’) — but the wings are a decent size and they had Sapporo on draft for $ 4.xx a sleeve. Anyways — should be a solid C-grade/3-stars… satisfactory performance much like the Coquitlam location — go ahead Wings… join the other 68% of middlers out there. But here’s a few things: — service really sucked — not sure if the server simply didn’t like us or she was just being lazy. Regardless, we were on the patio and she was never to around when you needed her. Bleh… and that brings me to my next point… — quite simply the worst patio I’ve been to all summer. The patio faces out on Kingsway — so I guess to seal out road noise — they built a fully enclosed patio with windows. With airflow d and sun shining down — I felt like I was in a greenhouse. It was uncomfortably ‘swelty’ — and the patio is now non-smoking. It was my last refuge in Burnaby — now I just feel like I was trapped in a glasscase of emotion. And I finally pulled the trigger on the Bobby Wings — which is their top-tier über hot wing with accompanying waiver. I’ve heard(reliable) stories of people instantly turning ghost white and near passing out from unimaginable pain, vomiting, headaches, etc. Unsure if it’s an excess of testicular fortitude or foolish bravado — but I had to try it. One of my tablemates ate one before me and we watched him turn from a man to a pained, teary-eyed, sweating shell of a boy. Anyways — definitely not a wing anyone would eat normally — just if you have something to prove. I ‘POWed’ up and got deeper than a Navy SEAL. I ate it like a normal wing(didn’t cheap out on it by quickly ‘stripping’ the wing) — and I didn’t see the big deal… chewing and processing what I was eating, I let out, «Hmm — this is going to be tad uncomfortable…» My mouth went numb for a bit… then my my tongue turned into a caustic molten lava bed — it’s an extremely intense and lingering burn in your mouth. I didn’t reach for the milk… like Usher, I decided to let it burn. But yup — it pretty much disables your ability to talk for a few minutes as you try to keep a poker face and while you’re screaming in your head: [in Gollum’s voice] «ITBUUUURRRRNNNZZZZ!!!» But yup — you’ll be in pain for about 10 minutes as you swirl some extra swigs of beer in your mouth. But it passes — definitely painful but not as bad as everyone said it was. Get one if you’re as dense as I am. … and yes… if you must know, you do feel it when the Bobby Wing ‘clearing’ your system — like a bullet, most of the visceral damage is from the exit wound… [over drum machine] Ohh girl — light that ass on fire.
