Fantastic value. Sure, the hygiene and service aren’t perfect, but the food is tasty and cheap enough to keep me coming back. There are line ups during peak hours but they move fairly quickly. And they won’t keep you waiting for long after you place your order. I would recommend the love boat and DX sashimi. I would not recommend the spicy salmon/tuna sashimi because the spicy sauce is too overwhelming and you’ll only be able to taste that and not the fish. Instead you could get a sashimi plate and have a large variety of tastes to enjoy. The udon is decent.

This location is always busy from 12 noon to about half past 1 pm. If you plan on having your lunch here come before noon or after 1:30 pm. The place is clean. Service is ok. Food is decent. I always get the California combo. It includes California roll(8 pcs), 2 salmon sushi, 1 tuna sushi and 1 ebi sushi for about $ 9. I think the price is about right for the amount of food you get.

As far as I can tell, this is sushi made by Koreans, and popular with Chinese. *shrug* I’ve been here a couple of times, and the food is OK. The sushi is acceptable, but I don’t see why people would want to wait in line when there are other sushi places a block or two away that are the same or better. Stay away from the Filet-O-Fish roll, whatever you do. I tried it on a lark, and as my friends seem to comment«That sound disgusting»… it was :/(It doesn’t taste at all like the McD’s version)

Maybe we just went at the wrong time. It was a Saturday at 1pm and it was very busy. I’m not sure if they were short staffed but our server never revisited our table to refill our tea or check on us. The food, however, was delicious. I ordered the Dynamite combo and tempura shrimp. The food gets 5 stars!

Terrific fresh sushi. Very few parking in the front or park above ground around on top literally. Everyone must arrive upon seating down. Can be awhile unless everyone is there. Fast service, few hiccups with order so better to remind them so you don’t wait longer. Very busy sushi place.

Great food and service. Good customer service and ontime. I am really happy with their services and strongly recommanded. The most important think for me the food always taste same as always. And its mean they have certain rull for their cheff. It was great experience for me.

We have been ordering takeout from here for over 5 years. In the last couple years, we have been ordering on average once every 2 weeks. I’m giving it 4 stars for its consistency and value. Out of the 5 years ordering take out, they probably got our order wrong a couple times only. I usually order 20 – 30 minutes early(their typical wait time for take out), and the food is always available when I go to pick up. The food pretty much taste the same every time. From a quality perspective, there are definitely a lot of room for improvement compared to other restaurants that may cost 50% or more. But at least for restaurants that cost about the same in the Lougheed /Willingdon area, this is the best option.

ALWAYSCALLINADVANCEANDORDERTAKEOUT. I never understand why this place is packed 24/7, with lineups over 40min. The food is great for that price point, but it’s not great enough to justify staring but not being able to eat their food for 40min. — ALASKAROLL: is it just me, or is this just an avocado roll? Where’s the imitation crab? — SPIDERROLL: we wanted to try a special roll, so we got this… it was around $ 6.75, and… we had lots of this leftover. We ordered it cus of the deep fried soft shell crab, but, I don’t recall tasting it. At least the cucumbers were fresh. I will never eat in at this place since I don’t like having a crowd of starving customers staring and counting down the bites I have left until I’m done.

I’ve been here many time and I have to say I only give this place a 4 star based on the sushi consistency. Like it’s not wowing but definitely it taste the same every time I go. My experience here was never horrible or outstanding but I’ve only been here for dinner and takeout. I use to get take out because I get off work around 9ish and by the time I get to the place they are about to close. But there are a few times I would sit in. Sit in waits are can be from 10 minutes to 30 minutes worth of a wait. So, not exactly the best if you are starving. The larger the party the longer the wait is especially during dinner rush hours. Service here is no different from any other Korean run Japanese restaurant. It’s pretty loud when you walk in because i understand they want to greet you. If you don’t like it then I suggest you to not come here. Though food does come pretty quick once you order it. It’s like they want to rush you out the door or something because they have so many people waiting for a table. Overall, not a bad place to go to for some sushi. They are pretty generous with their sashimi. Check it out if you happen to be in the area. They do have another location close to Metrotown which I have been to. It’s kinda the same but the place is smaller and looks like they always have a line up because it’s close to Metrotown.

Last visits were great service and food. Sashimi on point. Only disappointment was that the soft shell crab roll was refrigerated and not freshly fried. Therefore the roll was so cold. really wish they will change that! HINT

Waited over 20 minutes at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon– not even lunch or dinner rush, for sushi that was not even that good. The rolls all fell apart as we ate them, and the fish was not fresh tasting. On top of the food not being palatable, their customer service was lacking. No one made eye contact with me as I stood in front of the counter inquiring about our order. Then when I did ask one of the servers to check if our order was up, she and another waitress spoke to each other in another language, ignoring me. My husband and I thought this place would be great, judging by how it is always busy when we go by. It’s a shame our first visit is also our last.

I’ve been coming to Sushi Town and Sushi Garden for years(since I was in high school) and over the years unfortunately I have also witnessed their decline in food quality and taste :( This last time, i hadn’t been for over a year so I decided to go get my usual Alaska Roll and Spicy Salmon Sashimi fix. Came here, waited at least 10 minutes just to put my name down(horrible system), and another 30 minutes for the table. We ordered the Bill’s Roll, Alaska Roll, Takoyaki, ½ order of Spicy Salmon Sashimi, Gyoza, and the Island Roll. The Good/Average: Alaska Roll, Spicy Salmon Sashimi, Gyoza, Takoyaki –the alaska roll and salmon sashimi has not changed, always something I like to order when I come here. Gyoza and Takoyaki are very average, like what you’d get at any sushi restaurant. The Bad: Bill’s Roll and the Island Roll. Bill’s Roll is so bland now. The filling inside the roll has changed and its like 60% shredded cucumber. It was so bland and plain. The Island Roll had cooked salmon and some sort of kiwi purée as the sauce. The kiwi sauce sounded cool and refreshing but it was executed poorly. The sushi roll was covered in the sauce making it soggy and really overpowering it. Service here is bad as well. Maybe I’ll only come back to get Spicy Salmon Sashimi and Alaska Roll. Thats it.

The big debate is whether a Korean approach to sushi is as good as Japanese approach. I came to Sushi Garden at 7.30 on a Tuesday, by myself, spent 10 minutes in a line up to give my name, and a 20 minute wait for a table. I had my regular, the Sushi Special, which with a large Sapporo has to be in my opinion one of the best deals in Vancouver. Yes, you have to put up with mediocre service, lots of badly behaved kids, but the food makes up for it. If you want to bring your young family you will love it, possibly not so much, if it’s just you and the girlfriend.

Sitting in a coffee shop, therefore, taking the time to clear out some of the drafts that have been sitting in my inbox for 4 months of local reviews in attempt to reduce my list one at a time(I have over 60 drafts). Cheap, easy to get to, slow service, good sushi, lots of seating and of course a decent ambiance.

Love this place. Big portion and not expensive Décor is nice, Service is good. This place always have long lineup. Always busy but the sashimi are very generous portion. If you do come here, please be mindful where you park or else you might get a ticket. Not all parking spots are reserved for Sushi Garden. You also need all or most of your party to be here to get a seat. I love their spicy salmon sushi

All the previous reviews are right: the place is always packed, so they don’t take reservations and won’t seat a party of 3+ unless everyone is in; the parking situation is less than ideal; the service is lacking; the little dishes where the food is served is cheap plastic; nothing fancy about the menu or ambience.. so why is it such a big hit?? The food is not bad, pretty consistent, good portions and reasonably priced. If you’re considering giving it a try, make sure you’re willing to wait..

Good food but the service is lacking, sometimes down right rude and abrupt. The portions are ok. the food is okay. Im not fond of their seating policy, they don’t take reservations and for parties of three or more they won’t seat you until everyone in your party has arrived.

Don’t know why this place is only rated three stars, I’ve eaten here a few times lately and had really great sushi each time. First off this place is busy! If you come at dinner time you’re probably going to have to wait around for a bit. As well, they won’t seat you unless everyone is there. So if you’re missing a person perhaps you could just lie and say you’re all there then simply add a chair later. From the sashimi, to the donburis, to the delicious rolls, to the heavenly smell of the pasta that permeates the room, everything was good. Definitely one of my favorite spots in town for inexpensive big portioned sushi and sashimi. Just remember not to park in the parking stalls not meant for Sushi Garden because they actually ticket you for it.

This was my go to sushi restaurant for many years. The portions are quite large and the sauces are delicious. — dynamite roll — spicy salmon sashimi — prawn tempura — spicy tuna role — assorted sashimi Are all winners! This isn’t an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant but it is a quick, cheap fusion option. The lines can be quite long, so do take out during busy peak times or go after the dinner rush.

It has been a long time… like almost 4 years since I have been here so it warrants a follow up. Bringing my mom out. we needed something that wasn’t too far from the home and I was running out of options that my mom would be ok to eat with… I guess cheap Japanese it is once more. Coming here is a drag, as the parking lot situation is a true joke. If you know the plaza, you know that there is a Staples here… and also that they have most of parking spots downstairs. and if you are to park in these spots and eat at Sushi Garden… well that cheap Japanese food just went ‘Tojo’s’ on you… without you digesting anything($ 80 warning when you enter the restaurant!!!). So unless you are here after 8PM where the spots are free on the street. make the effort and park upstairs in ‘no-man’s land’ and walk down to the place. I dropped my mom off to get seats, and go find parking on the street, I came back. and she was still waiting… for service. I was very surprised, as this place is always packed… why is it. I still did not understand… and this lack of service already made me feel a little fearful of what was to come. Eventually after I came in. and someone finally noticing us at the doorway… we were seated. The place was full, as usual, and while watching other tables… and their orders come out. I can say that either people have huge appetites… or their eyes are bigger than their stomachs… as it clearly looked like everyone here tonight was over ordering. This one table beside us. 5 people, clearly ordered to feed a town as the whole time we were sitting down… I barely saw any food disappear magically off the table. Looking closely at other tables. it was the same thing, massive amounts of food, some tables surprised me more that they actually were able to devour all that was put in front of them. Think Samurai Sushi… in terms of portion size… huge and cheap… bang for the buck… check, check. check. If you want entertainment for the eyes. come here, you will be surprised. I allowed my mom to decide on what we should have… and she does have a thing for California rolls… so we put that in, yam tempura roll, filet-o-fish roll(yes. they had this… I had to see just for fun… fried fish and processed cheese!) potato croquette, and a dish of mentaiko udon. As or order was put in, I looked toward the sushi bar… and those sushi chefs looked like a sweatshop factory… as they kept on putting orders on plates… and then our 3 rolls arrived on one plate, nicely presented… and big. I think we were shocked at the size too and were already thinking of how much we could actually eat. Eventually the last two cooked dishes came… nothing too special, the mentaiko udon wasn’t bad, for everything we ordered, it came up to a little under $ 23. Would I come back… no, as I would rather go to Sushiholic. which isn’t too far from here. Asking my mom what she thought… value wise. yes. quaility and taste wise… the same. I actually felt heavy after eating this meal, and so did my mom. We did have to box up the cooked food… and it was handled quite quickly. Service. was ok. wasn’t anything spectacular… it must be a comfort zone for many… 2.5 in my mind but I can see why people come here.
