Athena Pizza

Came here once with family food was ok but worst service ever, had some of the kids with us as soon as we paid for our food they kicked us out.

I came here to eat after hiking up Sulphur Mountain. The restaurant was very neat and clean. The staff was friendly. The pricing was not expensive for the amount that they serve. They have a large selection of pizza, since this place is known for their pizza. The restaurant was empty when we went, mainly cause it was mid afternoon. So everyone was pretty much done for lunch and too early for dinner.
I ordered steak with shrimp. It was a deluxe platter that came with fries and salad. When the dish came, I was relatively surprised at the portion size. The steak was done medium rare and the shrimps were fried just right with a crisp. The meal was very satisfying.
I would recommend this place if you are looking for a big dish with decent pricing.

It was okay.
A friend of mine and I went for dinner as most other places had a really long wait we were happy to get a table here quickly. I have eaten at the Banff Ave Brewing company next door several times and because they share a hallway I have smelt this restaurant and it smelt good.
There is not a large menu and primary consist of pizzas with a few pasta dishes. My friend and I split a Cesar salad which was very dressing heavy but pretty tasty though. We also had the backed ravioli, the ravioli was slightly cold in some spots and the cheese was burnt in others. The sauce was super spicy, like shockingly spicy for Italian food. The garlic bread was very buttery and garlicky so if that’s you think you will love it.
Our service was great though, the waitress was prompt and friendly, it’s not her fault the food was just okay. Really this would have been a 2.5 star place but the service was good and the restaurant was clean so I rounded up.

The pizza was pretty good here, not the best of I’ve had, but pretty darn good! The calamari was a little on the greasy side. The server was friendly and efficient. The only downside was it was extremely noisy due to a large party with kids and the parents not only separated themselves from the kids but wouldn’t do anything about how noisy their kids were being.

We promised our young daughters some pizza for one of our meals. The pizza was delicious, we enjoyed the crust and toppings. Then server was also very friendly.

Of all the Italian restaurants in Banff, this is probably one of the cheaply prices ones…
We were hungry and craving for pasta…
Hence…we thought we’d give this place a try.
Got there and the place was DEAD. Bad sign… but whatever. it was cold and we didn’t want to use more of our data plan to search for places… so here we were.
We got seated by the window, overlooking the cold and christmas lit Banff Avenue. The décor was old. and the ambiance could do a bit better… It screams, «I’m stuck in the old age and i hate change»…
It was severely and painfully freezing outside that my body was calling for some soup… I asked what the soup of the day was… waitress told me what it was and said «but we already ran out of soup»… (smiley face)
Bitch.
Anyway.I decided to get the Baked Spaghetti and Cory got the Ravioli… both with Marinara Meat Sauce…
Spaghetti: The portion is HUUUUUUGE. It was actually quite tasty! the pasta is al dente… and the meat sauce was good. The melted cheese on top was Yummy… but can be too overpowering after a couple bites.
Ravioli: OMG. This is probably the most disgusting ravioli there is… It was soggy. pasty… I don’t even know if there’s filling… I swear i took a macro shot of it… and it was like taking a picture of nothing. These were frozen raviolis that were forced out of the freezer that turned into an overused slut in the oven.
Thank goodness my spaghetti portion was enough to share, that Cory and I were able to split it.
I do not recommend the Ravioli.

Great pizza and nice staff! The only thing I would change is that they needed more staff during the lunch rush. There was only one server for the whole restaurant and she was definitely busy. Other than that, great place and awesome food!

Only had the Greek pizza. It was good and the price was decent. Their spaghetti looked great on someone else’s table.
The wait staff was nice.
