This place is no longer Mum’s Thai and the food is bad and the service quite slow. I had the Chinese greens and Pork belly. The sauce was so salty it was almost inedible. The greens were very greasy. And the pork belly was so crunchy it was hard to chew. This place is at best a 2*.

I regularly attended night sessions at the nearby Landmark Education. At my first visit to Landmark(May 2008) this restaurant was recommended. Clearly it’s popular(and very conveniently located) because each time we have a dinner break, everyone always suggests Mum’s Thai. This past weekend I suggested anything but Thai, but lost out to the majority vote(5 – 1). It’s the usual Thai options, and Mum’s suggestions. I usually return to the Pad Eew(simple and delicious), but every now and then I try another dish. And I’ve never been disappointed. Consistently good food, at very reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly and very efficient. We’re always on tight timelines and we’ve never had to ask for fast and friendly service — it just happens.

This cute little hidden Thai resturant is hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Pyrmont… I kind of get the feeling you would need to stumble upon it in order to know about it… It’s actually quite a cute place with a few yummy items on the menu — worthy of a taste test if you’re in the area… Expect all your usual Thai choices — Fish cakes, spring rolls, Tom Yum soup etc… but since it’s always good to listen to mum — why don’t you try her«suggestiins»… I went for the Darling Dish($ 16.90) — a steamed fish fillet with garlic, chilli, lemon, coriander and mint… the flavours created a wonderful combination in my mouth that left my taste buds satisfied… They’ve made an effort with the décor with wooden carvings and a budha iconography… A cute spot indeed.

It’s small and simple, but also very tasty! It’s nothing out of the ordinary with regard to its menu choices, with the usual crowd of money bags, satay, penang and various coloured curries each assuming their rightful places. I decided to go for the Walking Duck Salad(don’t worry, it’s just a name — $ 16.90) and a serving of fish cakes($ 7.90). My previous experience with a Thai salad was that the chilli level caused not-inconsiderable discomfort to myself, but thankfully this time I’m happy to report chilli levels returned to normal and I was instead treated to fresh flavours and tender duck. And the fish cakes had that pleasant springiness to them as well as a delicious, not-too-fish taste! So for a small little eatery, this is a great find!
