What can I say? Café opposite Family Law Court of Australia, called Love Bite. The name’s not lost on me! Bit of a queue for TA, so opted to sit. Fast & friendly service — order taken & delivered promptly. I liked the airy feel. Surrounded by Legal Eagles, as well as Mere Mortals. I whiled away my time guessing who was getting ready to cross the road for Family Law. Good people watching spot! My coffee was great.

If you want a Mocha that you’d happily risk getting scalded by bathing it coz it tastes so good and you don’t want the experience to end, then this place is for you! It’s changed hands twice in the time I’ve spent there, but the new owners haven’t changed the place that much. Their breakfast menu is great, but sells out fast so get in early if you can manage it.

Now I like BBQ sauce and bacon as much as the next guy… sorry? …oh… OK. Turns out the next guy doesn’t actually like BBQ sauce. And I like bacon much more than him. And probably everyone else. Anyhoo, he should NOT get a bacon and egg wrap here. There was hardly any bacon and even if there was more you couldn’t have tasted it because someone had tipped an entire bottle of BBQ sauce into it. Lost a star, slow service and an almost inedible bacon and egg wrap. Coffee was good, but on one of the rare occasions when I decided to splurge on an unhealthy brekky I was robbed of that guilty pleasure. Not happy.

It’s quite hard to describe my relationship with this café but I will give it a try. Lovebite is conveniently located just below my office building; this busy little café offers a fairly large range of semi-decent breakfast and lunch items at reasonable prices($ 5.50 for a B&E roll). Now too the coffee — I purchase about 3 coffees a week from Lovebite simply out of convenience, each coffee is on a different level of quality: Monday 20⁄109:30: Large cappuccino — burnt and too milky(had better from 7-eleven). Tuesday 21⁄1011:00: Large cappuccino — Perfection. I need consistency in my life — 2 stars.

Under terrible new management. Went in for breakfast at 8am. Waited ten minutes before I was acknowledged by staff who clearly wished they were elsewhere. Asked me if I was ready to order to which I responded that I’d like a menu. Shortly after I ordered some poached eggs on sourdough with avocado and roast tomato, and specifically asked for a glass of water. Twenty five minutes later, with no sign of the water, some poached eggs on toast arrive sans anything else I’ve ordered. I politely pointed out my order was missing ‘half my order’, Without saying a word the waitress took my food and began to walk off. I called her out on that and my water not arriving and the fact that she hadn’t audibly even acknowledged that I’d been inconvenienced. ‘Perhaps a sorry?’ I suggested. I’d already had enough of my time wasted. She rolled her eyes and continued to walk off. I got up and walked out. Way to ruin a perfectly good café. I won’t be back. Not ever.

Decent coffee(Campos), personable staff and tasty breakfast and lunch options(French toast for $ 1 a slice!). And good for hearing legal gossip, if that’s what you’re into!

Somewhat creepily housed in the Masonic building, this café is a little loud for my liking, filled as it seems to be with lawyers from the courts across the road. Although the eavesdropping potential is quite high if you’re interested in gossip about the peccadilloes of judges and whatever lawyers get up to between court dates. The coffee’s good, but if you’re seeking a quiet moment’s reflection, this isn’t the place. Now what was that about Judge —-?

Skipped breakfast on your way to work? Love Bite offers the perfect solution to accompany your tea break: soft, palm-sized bread rolls filled with various morning appropriate goods, like smoked salmon and poached egg with hollandaise sauce or Italian style scrambled eggs mixed with sun-dried tomato and olives, topped with a handful of rocket. Knowing I could tide myself over until lunch with one of these satisfying $ 3.50 delicacies provided much relief on rushed mornings. I used to work around the corner from this super busy café and would also come back time and again for their pre-made garden salad topped with two massive corn fritters and avocado salsa(just $ 8.50), while afternoon treats usually took the form of their giant muesli cookie made with rolled oats and chunks of dried fruit. If you’re looking to sit down for lunch, they also do a great daily changing soup as well as some kind of pasta bake for a special price. Whether you’re visiting to take your meal away or have it there, make sure you arrive as early as possible — tables get snapped up quickly and there’s a consistent coffee queue throughout the day. Say hi to Con the barista for me on your way out!

I recently worked in the Civic Tower for a month this year doing a temp assignment for an ACP Magazine publication, and everyday would go to this café which is located underneath the same building. The guys that own and run this joint are there to make sure that your start to the day is the best it can be — so they make the best coffee for you to ensure that they make this happen for you! The coffee really is a good brew, and it is also reasonably affordable compared to the expensivity of some coffee houses in the Sydney CBD. There is always a lineup in the morning, but the atmosphere is made very tolerable by the awesome selection of music they play — which is never intrusive, just conducive to the good coffee and good vibes from the lovely guys and girls behind the counter. You can dine in or takeaway, and there is generous seating inside. The light in the café is amazing, due to the glass paneled ceiling which allows natural light to flood in. Everyday they have a fresh variety of breakfast and lunch options, including gorgeous little poached egg and bacon rolls which are way too cute to miss out on! If you work in the area, I highly recommend using the LoveBite café as your regular coffee pit-stop, and it’s also a great place to meet up with a colleague for a catchup, or even to take clients for an early business meeting. Loyalty cards are available — and they stamp them with a cute little love heart shaped hole-puncher, which is another sweet little detail that makes The LoveBite Café a treat, and helps make every morning a Good Morning! Tas is the owner, and is usually serving coffee behind the counter — strike up a conversation with this man, and you’re sure to know exactly what I mean!
