Staff in the hotel are great not so much in the restaurant the food is good but I like to feel welcomed when I dine for breakfast lol. Instead I was treated as a bit of an annoyance and the whole experienced was rushed. Not my best breakfast experience

I came for a work conference which was held in the Oxford room. The staff were great and super cooperative with my colleagues who were organising the conference. The room was well set up; even with round tables everyone could see the front and were equipped with decent notebooks and pens. Lunch was amazing — plenty of fabulous vegetarian options including a delicious mixed vegetable curry and a colourful Asian noodle salad. More work needed in the pastry section though; the brownies were a bit cakey and the cupcakes, though beautifully decorated, tasted like it was made from packet cake mix.

$ 190 for a Saturday night in Sydney and I wasn’t expecting much How wrong I was! Twin room, decent sized, nice shower and bathroom. At the slightly dodgy end of Surry Hills, and parking was around the $ 30 mark but all in all a really nice hotel that if stay at again

Not a bad room but the jacuzzi was broken and I also got bitten a couple of times by some nasty bugs during my sleep. Close to amenities but you want to sleep unbitten at the very least.

Stayed here during the week for a few nights leading into the weekend. The staff were lovely, the continental breakfasts reminded me of my American road trip. As in abundant, although I’m still confused how everywhere around the world manages to make eggs taste over-hydrated. It must be a hotel continental thing. The room was lovely, clean and serviced. We had a nice little get away without leaving the city.

Stayed here for only one night whilst in Sydney for homebake. The hotel is in a great location, close to central station, which if you’re coming from the airport is really close. It is in walking distance to most things in sydney — we walked to the opera house, botanic gardens and darling harbour. The hotel itself is very nice and modern. There is a really cool fish tank in the floor in the lobby which is awesome. We got to the hotel way too early to check in but they held our bags until our room was ready and even put our bags in the room, saving us the trouble when we finally got back to the hotel at almost 10pm at night. The room we had was really nice, we got a free upgrade as well which was great. The bed was huge and super comfortable, think i fell asleep as soon as my head touched the pillow. The bathroom was spacious and clean. We really only spent about 10 hours at the hotel sleeping and then getting ready to leave, so can’t say much about their other facilities, but would recommend based on location and the room itself. The staff were also friendly and helpful on check in.

A friend of ours recommended we stay at this place — the rooms were decent, had a pool, sauna, gym, spa, it was close to Central, and they had an inbuilt aquarium in the lobby. We thought we’d check out the aquarium before anything else. For four and a half stars I have to say I expected more. You can pay $ 20 pp for a full buffet breakfast before 11am, but unfortunately we arrived 5 minutes past and missed out. Luckily too I might add, since we discovered a really, really great café next door. We ordered room service for dinner and the butter chicken was obviously reheated, these little chicken pieces swimming in a watery curry sauce which just wasn’t appealing to me. The wedges were much better(my choice) but the sour cream was tasteless. The Sebel is acceptable but not exceptional. The room and bathroom was smaller than I expected, it was sparsely furnished, the view from the window was of the building next door, but the biggest letdown was the air-conditioning. We asked to have it checked out — and were assured it would be — but no one came back. We had it set to 18 degrees for the entire stay and the temperature stayed on 25 degrees(it even became hotter at one point — 25.5 degrees). It’s just unfortunate that something so simple could have made a world of difference to my overall impression of the place. It’s also unfortunate that I won’t be heading back. Won’t be listening to that friend again either…
