Strolling around Subiaco and came across Karma. Walked in and were greeted with a smiling face and shown to our table at the front window. Decided to go all out and have the tikka masala, beef vindaloo, garlic naan, chicken madras, lime pickle, Papadums and wash it down with a kingfisher beer. Oh my Lordy Lord… The food is spectacular. The vindaloo was strong and spicy with tender beef. The madras was on point and the tikka simply delish. The garlic naan is an addiction in itself. The ambience is wonderful. So relaxing and a great place to still have a decent conversation without being drowned out by the music or overcrowding. The service is perfect. The meals came out really quickly too. Definitely coming back here again. They do great lunch specials as well. Think I may have found my newest favourite Indian in Subiaco. AAA+++ WILLDINEAGAIN

The food was quite good with the garlic naan bread served as entrée as we were pretty hungry. I agree with previous comments, the settings were a little bit too formal for my liking, but the service was good, and the prices reasonable.

If you are going to a show at the Regal you will get 25% off your bill and if you go on a Monday or Tuesday it’s 50% off any of the curries. Otherwise, I would be going to Chutney Mary’s across the road. It took almost an hour for the food to appear after ordering — slow to the point where we thought we might miss the beginning of the show. If I were to go again, the chicken tikka masala I would give a miss but the goat vindaloo was very tender and tasty.
Yeah, this Indian restaurant in Subiaco sits at the three star mark for me. As other Unilocalers have noted, this place is good little spot to visit on half price curry night. However I don’t think I’d visit here on a «normal» night. With curries priced around the $ 26 mark it’s pretty pricey! The décor is mostly dark wood with, yes you guessed it, lots of Buddha statues. We sat in the front room overlooking Rokeby Road but the overall vibe of the venue felt a bit lacking, if not a bit tired like most of the venues on Rokeby Road these days. We did however leave in a satisfied food coma after ordering a little too much naan bread. Oh man, it was good but trust me, you definitely only need one naan between two. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs! Half price curry night is where it’s at!

Visited this place for lunch on a Sunday before a footy match. There were very few people there, so it was certainly easy for a quiet, relaxed chat. It looked like there was a lunch buffet option, but we went for the regular menu. Overall, it was fine. Decent Indian food, ok location, ok service, reasonable atmosphere. I wouldn’t mind eating here again, but nothing particularly stood out and I probably wouldn’t go out of my way for it…

Half price curry on Tuesday! I was surprised the place was so empty with that kind of offer. I was glad however that it was indeed half price as $ 26 for a curry without any rice or naan seems a bit much and the servings aren’t as big as you would expect from an Indian restaurant(or maybe they are smaller on half price days). The curry itself was very good(the beef madrasi) and the garlic naans was fresh and soft. I think I will return here but only on a cheap Tuesday night. The service was very good and the food came out quite fast which is always a bonus.

Half price curries on Tuesday — can’t turn down that kinda deal. My dinner buddy od’d on the ordering and we didn’t realise just how decent the portion sizes would be, was completely stuffed! Awesomely good garlic naan — sooo buttery my arteries were crying, but it tasted oh so good I didn’t care for the night. They make a great saag too, best I’ve had in Perth so definitely worth a try. Been here a few times for unplanned dinners out and has always been a pleasent experience. No complaints here!

Some crazy mixed reviews here and I will admit, I am only rating on one serve of take away. But I am giving it 3 stars. Actually, add an imaginary(cos we can’t do it) half star. As the picture displays, the take away for $ 9.95 comes in a specially designed container, filled to the brim in each little compartment. One for the curry, one for the rice and two littler ones for raita and chutney. An excellent ensemble and very good value. The flavours were pretty much what you’d expect if you’ve ever eaten Indian food. My only [minor] gripes: the Butter Chicken was *very* mild(I like it spicy, just like my men — woo!) and the dreaded bite down on a Cardamon pod. Sneaky little bugger. The colourful cocktails [in other photos] look wow!

We ordered 2 lots of onion badhji and meat samosa for entrée. We thought they would all be quite small… we were wrong. Though there are only two samosa per serving they were massive! Both entrées were a great way to start the meal — very tasty. We ordered just three curries between the five of us and by the end of the meal were thankful we did — the curries look deceivingly small but are very filling. Everything was so tasty and there was nothing I didn’t enjoy(except the little ‘plunge’ we all took sitting down as all the padding seems to have disappeared from the chairs!) We all enjoyed the meal and all said we would return, especially when we found out it’s half price curries Tuesday night! Be sure to book though, it gets rather busy.

After my visit today at Buddha Bar, I have to downgrade my stars. The butter chicken was awful. There was something black and crunchy in my meal and it was cold. I was so turned off :(

Went here for a friend’s birthday dinner with high expectations as I’d heard some good things, and I was bitterly disappointed. The atmosphere was non existent at best, with tacky music on repeat playing far too loud for an(except for our group) empty restaurant. We would have thought that being the only people in the place the service would have been prompt and friendly, with attention to details perhaps… but again we were bitterly disappointed. It seemed ‘service with a smile’ had never been heard of here, not to mention the absence of any staff when we wanted to order or get another drink. They couldn’t even be seen to get their attention, and a couple of times we had to go hunting around for them. When our food and drinks were finally bought out, the drinks were given to the wrong people, food basically thrown onto the table, and again given to the wrong people causing quite some confusion as to what was what and who ordered what. When we bought this to the waitresses attention, there was no apology, but an «oh, i thought that was…»(the wrong dish!) All in all it lacked any atmosphere, lacked service, lacked air conditioning, and the food was anything but spectacular for the prices paid. I definitely won’t be returning here, and would encourage anyone considering a night here to perhaps reconsider.

This is a go-to lunch spot for me because of their $ 9.95 lunch special. I always get the butter chicken or the beef vindalo. The lunch special comes with rice and a side of chutney and this yummy yogurt sauce. The meat is very tender and the sauces are delicious. Buddha Bar has great quality food for a nice value. The portions are a decent size, so I’m not left hungry or longing for after lunch sweets. The best part is that they are super fast, so if I’m really busy at work I can still get a quality meal without having to pull myself away for too long.

This establishment, unlike its namesake in Paris, has survived a quality reputation over the past seven years. I first sampled its array of tapa-type spicy dishes in 2004 and went back recently, noting a major change in the menu(now offering mostly curries) but innovation aplenty amongst these. I especially enjoyed the Lamb Cutlets with Sweet Potato and Lime Coriander Yoghurt. Perhaps Buddha Bar is competing with Chutney Mary’s across the way, hence is offering a fresh approach to Indian cuisine, but that’s what competition’s supposed to do: eventually lead to better, more substantial options. The cocktails here are unique, too, and there’s even a giant one to share with friends called the Jumbo Fish Bowl. It’s a delicious concoction of rum and layers and layers of fruit including mango, strawberries and citruses. The perfect drop for a steamy summer night, then.

Located in the heart of snazzy Subiaco, Buddha Bar is ultra-trendy, with dimmed lighting and chic décor; it’s known for its delicious mix of Indian and Asian flavours, chilled music and elaborate cocktails — if a ten litre cocktail slushy doesn’t do it for you, I don’t know what will! Not only is the vibe and menu of top quality, but the service is also impeccable. Buddha Bar is without a doubt a sensational place to dine for both drinks and nibbles before a night out on the town(Red Sea is just across the road), or for a relaxed authentic meal — by far the best traditional Indian I have tasted in Perth yet!
