My husband and I were in Melbourne for an annual ballroom dancing competition(Nationals) in December and as we normally do, we make a mini holiday of it. We had a few things planned but on our last day there we got off to a slower start than we’d hoped. We were going to do a bit of a day trip before flying back to Brissie, but canned that idea and were left pondering other things we could do a bit closer to the CBD. Then I had a brainwave! Even if we couldn’t get inside the Blocktagon, we could do brunch at Mister Zen! Yes, ok! Let’s do this! I was excited just to go there and check it out. I had some doubts in the back of my mind as to what the café would be like as, well, a café. Maybe they’d just rely on hype to get by? Maybe they’d be snobby due to TV fame? Needless to say by my 5-star rating I was pleasantly relieved and surprised by the quality of the food(so good!) and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. My husband and I really enjoyed eating at Misten Zen — it ticked all the boxes. I was especially pleased that they offered blankets as a fair bit of the seating is alfresco and despite it being Summer, I’m a Queenslander, so I was a bit chilly. Keep it up Mister Zen! Hope to visit next time we’re in Melbs.
