Look, 2 stars is a bit harsh, but this is a very, very casual space. And the prices are wayyyy to high for the service or quality we got here. The food is really great — for a casual option. We had eggplant with miso(delicious) sashimi/sushi entrée size(pretty great) and a salmon teriyaki main(poor value at $ 25 for one small piece of salmon but extremely yummy). All really great but the prices… Wow. Expensive. The dining room really is underwhelming with disposable chopsticks and paper placemats. Really? We ended up with 3 shared dishes, plus a couple of glasses of wine and it cost $ 50 a head. This aspect needs to shape up to better support the quality of food(which is so good). We had to ask for water for our table 3 times. So annoying. Get the basics right and this could be an awesome local dine in option. As it stands — get a takeaway option and save a few bucks.

Really good Japanese the heart of South Yarra. Our favourite local. A traditional run family restaurant.

Worst yasai udon I have ever had, which was disappointing since this was the only reason I went here. Extremely bland, under cooked vegetables coupled with bland broth and and bland overcooked noodles. Very disappointing experience. The sushi, which was ‘ok’, is the only thing keeping this from a lowly one star review. BYO.
