The Good: — great location with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the river — friendly and attentive staff — opens early on weekends(7.30am), so a great stop over during an early morning walk or bike ride The Not So Good: — overpriced for fairly average food

Yeah, it was ok. Had a piece of desert, and a coffee. Whether the chocolate cake/brownie thing was homemade or delivered, it was pretty average. The coffee(can’t remember the roaster) was bitter and sour and maybe sort of could have had some potential to be good… But it wasn’t. Someday I may return for a small meal and another coffee, but the first impression was enough to delay that from happening.

The main reason I give 3 stars is because of the gorgeous location. I really love the Armory and its gorgeous bike tracks, the river and the parks. It’s such a hidden gem of Sydney. If only the food could match! The breakfast is quite good, although pricey really. Lunch I’ve had was disappointing, I ordered a chicken wrap which was pre-made, cold from the fridge and made of that processed chopped chicken rather than a grilled chicken breast. It was below average. If if was an organic fresh food house I think it would do well as it has the monopoly of the market in the location.

Instantly fell in love with this place right on the Parramatta river where it’s breezy and calm the wait staff were very friendly and very professional. The food was a decent serving. I had the sweet potato and coriander thingy with salmon and avocado and they didn’t skimp on the salmon which was awesome and it was delicious. I will be definitely coming back in the future to try everything on the menu!!!

Loved this place! Great location, great food and awesome service what more could you ask for on a beautiful sunny day in Sydney. We came for breakfast and the place was already busy on a Friday morning. Everything on the menu looked delicious. I had the Portgegues eggs, yummo… That is all!!! Coffee was also. Will be coming back sooner rather than later!

Meh. This place is meh. Luckily it’s in a prime location and the only one there. Adding a 10% surcharge on Sundays & public holidays(5% on Saturdays) is extortion. I ordered poached eggs on toast. They came out SO underdone the«white» was still oozing clear. The baked eggs were okay.

So much potential! The location is pretty great(proximity to Silverwater Gaol non withstanding) on the river. And the breakfast menu is pretty rad. The bacon and egg roll = always a winner. So why only two stars? The service. It varies from slow and sloppy to flat out rude. The later in the morning you come, the slower the service. But they have the monopoly on sit down breakfasts by the river so that’s why I come back and I go get bottles of water for the table instead of asking and waiting… And waiting. The coffee is not amazing, the iced latte is pretty good on a hot day though. I had assumed that Allpress coffee was just awful but the kiosk hidden behind the playground has proved me wrong. Come on a sunny day where you can sit under the camp net and enjoy the river, otherwise it is just. Not. Worth. It.

This place has ONE thing going for it. Location. That’s it. Nothing else. Its website makes it look like an upmarket great food and ambience. It’s not. It’s just a regular café. There is no ambience, it doesn’t feel luxurious in any way, more like a food court level of things. Forget all that, OK what about the food? Yes, the FOOD. It’s atrocious. We had a large table and got a range of things, from steak, burgers, pizzas, soup, seafood baskets, and from soft drinks to mixers. Not a single person was happy with their meal. The pizza had frozen bits, the ‘medium’ steak was bleeding, the ‘sliders’ burgers were tough and bland. The children’s cheese balls were filled with rice that did NOT taste of cheese at all! The drinks were just cans in some cases, in other cases our Pear & Blueberry tasted like soda water. Should I even continue? The only thing that was up to scratch was the raw oysters. And for this, a small meal where we weren’t even full we spent almost $ 40 each! Apparently there’s a 10% surcharge every Sat, Sun, and public holiday! In other words every single day anyone would go there! Seems a bit rich for a café. I would not go there again, and with all the BBQ areas right next to the café seems all the locals know it too.

Passion: 7⁄10 Crema: 7⁄10 Coffee: AllPress (Bonus points: Near best kids park in Sydney) This café has a lot of things going for it. Location, location, location. If you have kids, this café is located near one of the best parks in all of Sydney, and as such, that mix of desperate need and availability, makes the coffee here taste pretty good. Would I travel here for the coffee… no. It is AllPress. This means it is good, but not note worthy. Still, if you are looking to keep the kids happy while you have a caffeine fix, this is the place for you. (Via: BitterBliss — )

This place is awesome, it’s out of the way and in a nice quiet scene. Sitting by the water with the camo on the roof, as the helicopter flys over it’s the feeling of being in a movie or even in a proper army tent. Sitting outside in the beautiful weather with small slithers of sunlight seeping through the camo roof. As I’m siting and people watching I see the food enter towards me. Lavish Hugh meals that are enought for 2 people to share. The taste is amazing and the service is fab. If you ever get a chance I highly recommend eating her… And not to scare you, don’t worry about the silver water goal… No convicts are getting out of there.

I won’t comment on the kitchen. But their service was absolutely shocking. We went twice with our kids. 1st time we waited an hour for a call after wrote our number on the waiting list. They did not call but we went back and found there were many spare tables. Ordered lunch and waited for another hour, had to calm our kids many times until we ran out of patient ourselves and demanded they check our order. Turned out it wasn’t input in the system at all. At that point we stood up and left because we were late for other things. 2nd time we decided to just order take away and goto nearby playground. They asked us to wait outside but no one came after a long wait. Turned out the kitchen had the order made and someone just left the order behind the counter for more than 15 mins. We won’t try them again.

With a great setting, a fantastic location and a clever theme and layout, the scene is set for the Armory to do very, very well for itself. I’m told it is incredibly busy and often has long waits, such is it’s popularity. I arrived early on a lovely sunny Sunday to find the place relatively empty and was surprised to find I was still faced with a 30 minute wait. There were lots of empty seats and I was puzzled. When I eventually got seated, I began to understand, the staff were finding it very difficult to cope. Unfortunately this affected the entire experience. There was a long wait to order, there was an incredibly long wait for the food, at no stage were we asked if we wanted more coffee’s, even when they whisked away our cups. The staff really seemed like the couldn’t cope. The food wasn’t bad, the big English breakfast was generous and tasty, the cheesy BLT, not so much and the scrambled egg was disappointing. The coffee was OK, but everything just seemed so stressed and rushed. It’s a lovely place for brunch or breakfast, especially on a nice day, but really they need to sort out their staffing issues. I may give it another go, but my expectations won’t be very high.

Excellent place to grab breakfast or lunch. Situated next to Parramatta river, the Armoury Wharf Café has gone with a light military theme, with camouflage netting providing shade to the outside area. The rest of the building has a rusty look that fits in with the historic armoury buildings in the area well. On the other side of the café is the amazing new children’s play area. The café has children’s meals so you could easily let your kids go off to play on the swings and nets while you finish off your meal in peace! The food is great, there’s a breakfast and a lunch menu that have the classics and a variety of specials based on the season. I’ve eaten there a number of times and never been disappointed! Even the Fish and Chips is a pleasure to eat. The service is good when it’s not too full, but in peak times on weekends it can be hard both to find a table and to get service when you get one. They are friendly though so wave someone down and you should be sorted out quickly. Booking recommended. Definitely one of my favourite western-sydney brunch locations. Hire some bikes and ride around, or exhaust your kids in the play area, then have a nice lunch at the Armoury.
