One of my favourite places to eat in Adelaide! Beautiful view of the river, friendly staff and great food. The banquet a must with dips, haloumi and lots of meat. Great dining experience, especially a banquet with family and friends.

After hearing good reviews of Zac’s Greek Restaurant, I was looking forward to trying it out, and it didn’t disappoint! It was a lovely way to spend a winters day, in the warmth of the enclosed outdoor area overlooking the West Lakes waters and homes. The share plates(meze) were very generous with ample to share between 4, which was a lovely change from some tapas places. We had heard about the Saganaki,(grilled haloumi cheese with quince paste), and it was so very delicious. The Sousoukakia(veal and pork meatballs with salsa and klitharaki) were light, soft and huge, and the garlic bread was simply the best. Don’t know if we were just hungry but every mouthful brought an oooh and ahhh and that was just the first course. For mains we had the Lamb Souvlakia, which is 3 skewers of the largest, softest chunks of perfectly cooked lamb with lemon and herbs. more ooohs and aaahs as we decided it was the best we have ever had. The Moussaka serving was very generous too but you could not stop until all was gone. I think we thought everything was just too good to leave any on the plate, salads included! Even though we thought we could not fit any more in we managed desserts and shared a Baklava, and the Zac’s special, a Crème Kataifi tis Mama’s(shredded filo pastry, roasted almonds, vanilla bean custard and fresh cream slice). Both were exactly what we expected from an authentic Greek restaurant and anyone’s Yia Yia would be proud of this food! Topped off with Affogatos with Kahlua, I was done! All the boxes were ticked and we were very happy! There was no waiting for each course with quick and friendly service. Easy carparking and entertainment book friendly. A full afternoon of drinking and eating came in around $ 50.00 each. Great value which made it even better!

One of the West’s best secrets. Zak’s is located right on the Lake so you instantly feel rested watching the sunset over the water with a glass of wine in hand. I recommend eating meze as you’ll want to try everything! My favourites: the dips and bread(drool worthy bread!), meatballs and the entire desert menu.

Zak’s is still one of the outstanding examples of Greek cuisine in Adelaide. With good selections of traditional and modern Greek food, you will never be disappointed with a selection from their menu. The dips are always a perfect starter and can be paired with a drink from their extensive wine and beverage list. The sharing platters(both meat and seafood available) are excellent choices for those who can’t decide on one dish and their desserts from the menu and their cabinet are second to none. The ambiance is always reminiscent of large family gatherings with friendly staff that are attentive to a customers needs without being intrusive. There is always a crowd and noise fills the room, if you are inside, to make to feel part of an experience. Outside on the patio, overlooking the lakes is a sublime experience of its own and can make a romantic dinner just that bit more special. Never a bad meal or bad experience has been had at Zak’s over many meals and many years. Always worth the visit.

Get the fresh pita bread for the entrée, it’s tasty and comes out warm, needless to say the dips are super tasty too.

Zak’s is a popular Greek restaurant with a beautiful section overlooking the water at West Lakes, which is available for hire as an event space. Traditional Greek cuisine and does amazing mezze platters where you can choose from meat or seafood varieties. The staff are very friendly and helpful and are knowledgeable about the menu. It is a family owned business and this shows through its professional but welcoming service. Unfortunately it is not the cheapest of places but you get what you pay for in terms of quality and professionalism. Having said this, the portions are massive so it can be good value when sharing with a big group. It is not the sort of place where you order an individual meal, it is more of a shared dining experience which is great so you can try and range of different tastes. There is also breakfast, lunches and coffee available and a very decent wine list. There is BYO available, but beware the corkage may be a little steep.
