I was here last night for the IGA Carols by Candlelight and had such a ball! First of all this is such a great park to be located in the middle of the city with breathtaking river views, large open spaces where I often see fitness groups and soccer games happening or just a nice spot to have a picnic. Last night the park was a sea of flashing Santa hats and multi-coloured flashing candles. The IGA Carols by Candlelight is an annual event and this was my first time going and I will definitely be making this a Christmas tradition each year. We got there around 6 and it was already pretty packed, I wouldn’t of wanted to get there any later otherwise you would end up at the very back. Entry was $ 10 per person which all went to charity and you get a free flashing Christmas Hat as well as the Programme and a candle. The night was full of entertainment for the little ones and traditional Christmas Carols which had everyone singing and bopping along. It was really nice to see all age groups getting into the Christmas Spirit, even families with teenage children were having a blast! The only downside to the night was the $ 15 parking fee, maybe next year we’ll get rid of the big esky and consider catching the train to save a bit of money. Overall a great night with fam to get you all into the Christmas Spirit!

If you’re a big kid like me and love bouncy castles, get on down to Supreme Court Gardens! Part of the Perth Festival is Sacrilege — a giant bouncy castle! As well as having fun we got a great workout too for free! It’s here till the 1st March and open Mon-Fri 11am-7pm and Sat 9am-7pm.

What beautiful gardens and right in the middle of the city. The Supreme Court Gardens is the best place to go and get away from work with your lunch if you work in the CBD. It has a stunning array of flowers and ornaments to ease the stress. They hold a few functions here including Perths annual beer festival. The lawns are well looked after which can be quite a difficult job in WA in the summer as rainfall is minimal. I really like this park and whats great is that it isn’t alone. Perth’s CBD is thronged with parks and green areas. In the summer there is no excuse to be stuck at a table in a restaurant at lunch time.

Coucil Gardens are HUGE! Edged with limestone columns and iron gates, they are so impressive that I stumbled onto them without even realising as Stirling gardens melted into these gardens. Slightly more exposed, this garden is mainly an elaborate entrance to(or respite from) the Court House(parking is behind the building itself.) I felt that a solemn but strangely peaceful vibe from within the building flowed out feeling into this space. The work that has gone into designing and maintaining this garden is amazing. There is a centrepiece towards the entrance(or exit depending on which way you’re facing) comprised of four overgrown flower beds and a wonderfully weathered sundial which is encrypted with the words«Serene I stand amidst the flowers to tell the passage of the hours.» ~
