Good westernised Asian(mostly Malaysian) food. Good service yummy food. A good selection of meals, quick service, lacks a little bit of authenticity, but makes up for it with clean and neat of a hotel restaurant. Will come again for sure!

I just had lunch at Joe’s and it was fantastic. I felt like I was sitting in Asia due to the enchanting décor and the chairs were super comfortable. I ordered a classic ice tea and it was spectacular, the Satay was ok. The star of the show however was the Green curry. I thought that it was going to be nice but I was shocked by how good it actually was. They say that good food often brings about nostalgia, and I must say that this was true for me also, since I felt like I was in Bangkok again. The service was attentive and the ambience was lively. When I visit Perth again I’ll definitely be back!

Not to be passed by… even if it is co-located with a hotel. This is the real deal! We started with a combo side order of Ikan Bilis($ 3) and Prawn Crackers($ 3). Excellent combination as the fish was very salty and Prawn crackers helped cut it. Next we shared the crispy duck, with plum sauce on Chinese vegetables($ 38) and the steamed barramundi, with extra veggies($ 28). All fantastic, really! Make sure you order the hoisin sauce for the duck! Several glasses of wine and the total came to $ 113…Excellent value! I’d return in a heartbeat.

These guys are borderline here… People who read my reviews they can quite often be influenced by the service, and here Joe’s delivers. There is nothing especially wrong with the food either if you are careful with your ordering; however some of the dishes are very generic and plain, lacking flavour and character which is a real shame since most dishes are quite good. This inconsistency is a little disappointing, though it certainly rates very highly for a hotel restaurant. I have come both for a quite business lunch chat, as well as taking a group of customers(15) and have found that on each occasion that everyone had left full and enjoyed the experience.

Joes Oriental Diner, attached to the Hyatt, underneath the driveway at the front, facing Adelaide Terrace, is a pleasant place to have a smart lunch. Or dinner, I am guessing. Staffed by only Orientals(I would *love* to see the job descriptions…) it has that faux authentic feel of a themed restaurant. However, it does the mixed ‘Asian’ cuisine quite well, I think. You can get Singaporean, Indonesian, Thai, Malay and a few of the other cuisines(not all countries are represented), all in one place. Sizing up the chefs in the open kitchen and I’d suggest you are getting the authenticity in the ethnicity. The dishes are well-presented and tasty. The prices are what you would expect at a 5-star hotel, but not particularly exorbitant. The décor matches the theme and carpeted floors allow for large crowds without the excessive noise. The place is licensed, but only charges $ 5 if you BYO. Food comes out quickly, once ordered. If you’re down that end of town, don’t rule it out.
