Firstly, were not served well, understandbly as the restaurant appeared to be full, and this occurred at about 7PM. Whenever we called to be served or to get water for our table it take a considerable amount of time to be attended to. More importantly however, is the complete lack of effort and skill that was put into the food, in both taste and presentation. Our food was served mostly cold, sloppy and unappealingly. We have eaten at established before at Joondalup, for lunch, and were extremely happy with both the service and food there. In short, the schnitzel was cold, oily and just generally lacking in flavour. The pork sausage was also lukewarm to cold, plain and could almost be mistaken for supermarket standard packaged foods. Lastly the pork belly, the mushroom sauce was watery, the apple side was cold(As I said before, most things were). Not disgusted with the whole experience, just disappointed.

Was so looking forward to a good German meal. But was disappointed. Was packed on a Saturday, service was very average & so was the food. Left and had Dessert at Coco Black to find the people who sat next to us at dinner sitting next to us again for dessert. Started a conversation to find they too had the same experience as us and decided to spend their money on dessert elsewhere.

I hadn’t been to Brotzeit until this week for reasons that escape me, and I stopped in with my workmate Andrew for a quick lunch on Monday. Well done to the lady from East Village who tried to steal our custom as we waited outside :) Many of the meals are quite pricey($ 30+), thankfully there are a few lunch specials that are around $ 18 — unfortunately the pork belly roll that we both liked the sound of(and looked awesome in the photo) wasn’t available. Boo. Andrew ordered the burger with wedges and I chose the pork sausage with sauerkraut on a pretzel bun with chips. We waited for what seemed like a very long time, especially since the restaurant was pretty quiet and we’d ordered from the lunch menu. I guess their strategy is for you to drink lots of beer while you wait(alas we weren’t drinking). They also didn’t allow for separate payments which isn’t that uncommon, but can be a pain for a relatively expensive lunch. We both enjoyed our meals, and the meat in both of our burgers was very good. I’m certainly keen to try some of their other dishes, but I’m not sure that I’d go back for another work day lunch give the relatively high price and small selection. I’ll probably try the new Joondalup one next time.

I came here for an after lunch drink because I know how incredible their espresso martinis are! They aren’t so strong that you feel like you’ll be hyper awake for hours yet tasty enough to drink 3 in one sitting. My mum and I also had the dessert taste plate for $ 25 and we loved it! The thing we most loved was that it wasn’t too sweet! It was more about the spice so we didn’t get sick of eating the same sweetness over and over again. But the plate is huuuge so make sure you’re either really hungry or have 3 or more people to enjoy it with you

Pretty good German restaurant, though the décor is too modern and feels a little sterile like a cafeteria, so it doesn’t quite say«German beer hall» to me. There was a group of us so we ordered the massive Brotzeit platter — crispy oven roasted pork knuckle, a mix of sausages, pork schnitzels and a side of mixed veggies and mashed potatoes. Brotzeit is one of the few places I’ve found so far in Perth that serves pork knuckle so that’s a definite plus. It was so good — super crispy skin with tender and flavourful meat inside. The sausages and schnitzel were pretty good too. I loved all the mustards and pickles served alongside the meat. The sides were so-so — I would have liked to try the rosti or spatzle but in the group of people I lost that battle. I was expecting quite a few more German beers on tap but the beers list is pretty limited and average in my opinion.

Nice place to have a meal. I ordered the sausage platter, spinach pizza and mozzarella salad. All the meals were nice enough. Portion size was good. No complaints here. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Good selection of beers on tap too!

Caught up for lunch with a friend for lunch and thought we would try this place as if heard a lot about it. Depending on what time of the day and when in the week you go, it can be super busy or super quiet. This day it seemed to be super quiet yet our order took a little longer than what you’d expect seeing there was only a couple of other tables of people. I ordered the pork sliders and my friend ordered the fish and chips. The sliders were ok, but I found them to be a bit heavy as far and the mini buns were concerned. This prob being because they used the same dough and what their pretzels are made from. Don’t get me wrong– I love those big German pretzels, however not for my burger bun, oh my. My friends fish and chips looked pretty good, though though they used fries instead of proper chips… Just in case you’re a fan of the Aussie style chip. Overall it was good but the wait time was bit disappointing. Will give it another go at some point I’m sure.

Nein! Nein! Nein! I’ve been here a couple times and I’m sad to say they just haven’t lifted their game. Today we came here for a team lunch for 6 people. We had booked ahead of time and were seated in a near empty restaurant at 12pm which is surprising given how packed places like East Village and Ribs n Burgers are. The wait time was extremely bad and the food was below average. We ordered pretzels to start at a whopping $ 4 each and these took over 10 minutes to arrive — in an empty restaurant where these are pre-made. We didn’t even get butter for them which the table next to us did. Boo! We also ordered a round of soft drinks to which 5 out of 6 of us received a drink. Can’t get them right every time huh? Then we waited 47 minutes for our mains which were 3 veal schnitzels, 1 spatchcock, 1 fish and chips and 1 sausages. Everyone around us was served first. We asked where our food was and was told that because we ordered pretzels they hadn’t told the kitchen to do up our food until later on. Right. Colour me unimpressed. The food looked nice but was average and what I consider too small a serving for the price. All other whinges aside, my biggest gripe was actually about my team mates fish and chips. They were ridiculously served on a wire rack. Not the good old chopping board and fryer. A tiny wire rack with a wire fryer for chips. No German ingenuity went into this lunch special! With so many good choices in the city, I won’t be coming here again. Not even for Oktoberfest. I will put on my dirndl and sit this one out. Auf Wiedersehen Brotzeit.

Brilliant food — had the garlic sausages with sauerkraut and they happily swapped the potatoes for red cabbage! I thoroughly enjoyed every bite! So good to see so many gluten free choices on the menu — not usually the case for sausages! I will be back for sure — good food at a reasonable price!

Very tasty and fantastic place for a gluten free lunch! Most of the sausage dishes are GF so a fantastic option!

Went here with a work colleague. It was«Ladies Night» so she got a free beer with her main — who doesn’t like free beer? We ordered the lamb shank and pork medallions. Both of us tweaked our dishes slightly though, which they accommodated at no extra cost. The dishes were cooked and prepared very well, and tasted great. My only gripe with the food is that there wasn’t more on the plate. For $ 36 I expect a better amd larger piece of meat. Sadly my lamb shank was on the slightly smaller side(the menu days it should be 400g, buy I beg to differ) and I dare say a third of it was bone and fat. Apart from that, I’d recommend this place. Definitely great for a bunch of guys who like beer and meat.

If you like sausages, pork knuckle, sauerkraut and German beer then this place is for you. Try a platter with a group of friends(or enemies) as long as they’re good at sharing.

You need to book on weekends as it gets busyZ great German food in big generous quantities! The Pork Knuckle and the cheese pasta dish is amazing is not to be missed! Not for the faint hearted or vegan/Vegos among us. The service struggled the night we were there so not as much beer was enjoyed as we would have liked.

Brotzeit is a German restaurant with meat and beer. There’s also pizza if you get confused and alarmed by all the sausages and pork on the menu. We ordered the platter($ 88 for 4 people) which has 5 different kinds of sausages, a big pork knuckle with awesome crackling, and amazing pork ribs with a delicious marinade. You also get 2 sides, which should obviously include sauerkraut! Prices are quite reasonable and you can feed yourself for about $ 25 and choose a beer for around $ 15(half-Litre Stein). Try the beer with mango syrup — it might teach you to enjoy beer!

Anyone who know me we understand this should not be my place; whilst I like a good streak heavy meat dishes I tend to avoid… However the crew here had me at hello! The service has been remarkably well done considering it does not try to be more than a great pub, and the atmosphere which I was concerned with at first has proven to be lively enough to great a vibe — without feeling the need to make the place look like a set from the sound of music. The food and beer is the star of the show however, and everything I have tried I have been fortunate enough to really enjoy and always head home very full since I do not seem to be able to pace myself as well here as other places; I will certainly be back

My boy and I visited Brotzeit one night with four others. The waiter was bubbly, the restaurant relaxed. He and I decide to share our dishes, with our first choice being the 400g lamm haxe, a slow roasted lamb shank with braised orange-cranberry red cabbage and napkin dumplings. The meat is ridiculously tender, falling off the bone and melting in my mouth. I really like the gravy like sauce pooling at the bottom which has that fruity taste from the orange-cranberry. But definitely the best thing about this dish was the dumplings. Soft, a little stretchy and somehow both plain and flavoursome, these were really cool and a great traditional addition to the dish. They are the perfect vessel to soak up the sauces and compliment that tasty lamb. A great plate! Our second share dish is the currywurst($ 18.50) which is a thick spiced bratwurst smothered in a curry sauce and accompanied by wedges. It definitely had a kick to it, and the bratwurst was cooked perfectly, retaining that pleasant snap to it when you cut through it. The wedges are potatoey and well seasoned, with some little crunchy edges in the mix. They’re perfect for dunking into the curry sauce, and not oily at all which kept the salad underneath crisp and fresh. Not that we needed extra food, but we also order a side of the homemade buttered spätzle($ 5.00). I’m curious to try this egg pasta which literally translates to little sparrows. We both dived in — I think the main sized cheese spätzle would be more tasty than the buttered one which needed some seasoning, but all up it was still quite enjoyable. They’re a little squishy but still al dente, the little uneven shapes offering a nice textural feel to each bite. I particular like these with the lamb shank. Normally when I’m dining out I love to follow up my meal with dessert but all of us were actually so full after the epic feast! I have to say I wasn’t sure what the meal would unfold but it turned out to be a giant sized and tasty dinner with some great company. We laughed, we ate, we rolled home.

Prost! Having heard that a new German themed beer hall had just opened up in town I was more than keen to give it a go and see what was on offer(besides the beers, but them too!). I do recommend booking here as the place was quite busy on the Friday night we attended for dinner. The place is appropriately staffed and service was efficient and friendly. We decided on a Schweinshaxn(Oven roasted pork knuckle) to share and washed it down with a Weihenstephanner Wheat beer and a Mojito. The Mojito was unfortunately a bit average and the beer whilst closely matching the banana flavour promised turned out to be quite hard to finish(very sweet). The food came out pretty fast and the skin was a little chewy but the meat was well cooked and the sauce that came with it was delicious. This also came with a healthy serve of sour kraut to round of the meal(in a traditional sense). Having finally conquered the serve of Weihenstephanner Wheat beer I tried my hand at Erdinger Pikantus(dark beer) and this I must say(personally) went down a treat. The drinks did come a little after the pork knuckle but came out together which was good to see. Staff seemed knowledgeable of their menu and were very approachable. I did notice some offerings on the menu seemed rather overpriced(in my opinion) so my recommendation is to consider what is a reasonable price for what your getting is when ordering. I intend to return in future(with more people) to try my hand at the Brotzeitplatte, a sharing plate for 4 to 5 people. A pleasant experience overall and a convenient location near the Perth Underground Train Station make a return trip in future a formality.

Dropped in for a quick dinner and though we had no reservation, we were warmly greeted and ushered to our table by the charming maître d’ Laura. There is ample seating as the restaurant can accommodate up to 163 diners. Our waiter presented us with menus and provided us with lovely chilled water, which certainly quenched my thirst, as it had been a hot and humid day. There is much to choose from, but I decided on the Weissewurst — Bavarian veal and pork sausages served with Brezen and sweet mustard. The sausages came out in a tureen of hot water flavoured with bay leaf and juniper berries and I enjoyed them immensely. The sweet mustard and the Brezen were delicious, the Brezen is baked in house and is so fresh and light. It was an extremely satisfying meal which left me with no room for dessert. Next time I will definitely be indulging in a sweet treat! There is a wide selection of beers on offer and in addition there are some fine wines for you to enjoy with your meal. On the drinks menu you will also find cocktails and non alcoholic beverages. The service is above par and the waitstaff were attentive, courteous and friendly. Brotzeit is lucky to have Laura whose bubbly personality, winning smile and subtle efficiency will ensure you have a memorable dining experience! I am already looking forward to my next visit! Guten appetiet!
