Turning Japanese? NO. Eating Japanese is much more the way to go. One of the few Teppanyaki Restaurants in Adelaide, Samurai is tucked away on The Parade. It’s not a big place. seating about 2 dozen max. If you are one of the lucky 14, you get to sit around the Grills and have your food cooked under your noses(watch out for your eyebrows) There is food for everyone. Plenty for the Carnivore, the Pescetarian, Vegetarian, I’ve even heard they have a vegan option too(don’t quote me on that one). You can either pick and choose your protein, or pick one of the Sets, these sets offer the mix of 3 proteins with the addition of a salad and Miso soup starter and vegetables Fried Rice and some Ice Cream for Dessert. I went with some friends and we all went for the sets. Options like Sea Set(Scallops, Prawns, Salmon), Meat Set(Beef, Chicken, Lamb), Aussie Set(Scallops, Chicken, Lamb), Duck Set(Scallop, Calamari, Duck) and Wagu Set(Scallop, Chicken, Wagu Steak) Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned under your nose. With the rest of the food, and the choice of Black Sesame, Green Tea or Vanilla Ice Cream. It’s a great place for a ‘slightly fancy’ feed.

They think they are at the Crown, high pricing(used to be a lot cheaper) but good luck to him as the place is always full and to be fair his food is good quality. From the seaweed to the lobster it’s the best produce and well cooked, good service. Confused delivery, they randomly served us sides like salad and rice 15 minutes before the main, like they are a course. Better food and service than tepanyaki place on Marina at Glenelg but this time of year and for same price go to Glenelg. A couple rocked in to be served at 9pm Sunday night, February peak season, hot summers night, the place was still near full and they refused them!!! Very poor and $ 150 down the drain!

This place is authentic teppanyaki cuisine, with polite and friendly staff and attention to customer satisfaction. Food is awesome and, being cooked in front of you, you know it’s fresh. If you’re at the hotplates, take a risk and chat to the chef; ask him what he’s doing, what spices he’s using etc., and you’ll find he’ll open up and start chatting as he cooks, adding a whole new dimension to your dining enjoyment. It’s pricey but there is a LOT of food in a banquet. Of you’re on a budget, order a single dish.

I have had Teppanyaki in Tokyo and in Shanghai and this would by far have to be the most genuine that I have tasted here in Australia. It was great to see so many people embracing some foreign cuisine. The food was inexpensive, the service was attentive and please make sure you book if you visit, because(much to our own fault) we needed to sit outside and it was quite a cold night. Would recommend that you have a Teppanyaki set menu, which will come with Miso soup, rice, an entrée and a main, all for $ 29 each. The plum wine was also a great compliment to the meal.
