This place has everything I look for from an Asian bistro, great flavours, comfy seats and a not too big, not too small menu. I definitely plan on making this a regular cheap and cheerful dinner spot. I highly recommend the yellow curry with chicken!

What a great place to frequent for Asian style meals. Spacious and very clean Rain makes for dining pleasure. Staff at Rain are well trained in presentation and customer service. They are responsive to any request and have willing smiles. The chosen food comes beautifully presented and there is a short wait time. This was important for my friend and I on this occasion as we were off to a show. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Rain and will certainly return.

We went out on a date night to the movies and wanted to incorporate dinner. not my neck of the woods so I texted a friend for vegan friendly restaurant recommendations on the parade. He was spot on with this place. Service friendly and attentive, food lovely and speedy and not super expensive. We came back after the movie for dessert and had the same excellent service. they remembered us and asked if we had enjoyed the film. The desserts were really different and delicious.

A casual Asian dining experience at its best. If you are after a casual meal in a busy area then Rain would suit you! They have a lot of items on the menu, but unfortunately if you have an allergy you’re unable to change the ingredients in any of the choices. Food is tasty and quick to arrive at your table, that is why I enjoy Rain

always love going to Rain for a meal or dessert, their service is outstanding, and if you ever get the chance the fired ice cream balls are amazing, you have melted chocolate on top and this really completes the dessert. I always enjoy the sizzling plates, they are amazing, the servings are just perfect.

A disappointing trip all around to this place, mostly related to the service. When served our first round of drinks, the wine served was wrong, the beer was served without glasses, and the water we requested never turned up at all. The food that arrived(pork belly, fried rice and tea duck) was mediocre, the pork and duck were undercooked, and the fried rice was just nothing special for the price. My girlfriend was offered a second drink, but no such offer was made to me. We sat talking for just short of half an hour before our table was cleared. When paying the bill, the staff member automatically processed my payment via PayWave without asking, and when the ‘approved’ sign came up, just said ‘Ok’, and went back to whatever she was doing. This was on a quiet night, with only 2 large tables and 3 couples in the restaurant at the time, and 4 waiting staff on the floor, one of whom was located directly behind our table the entire evening. Really, really poor service. Not recommended.

Upon arrival early on a Saturday night they couldn’t find our booking for a table of 8. We were led right up the back beside the food lift and drink fridge and squeezed into a tight spot, and we had to push the tables together ourselves. No apology for the inconvenience or losing our booking. Asian is usually a fairly good option for someone with food intolerances. If you have food intolerances then DON’T go here. They were unwilling to remove onion from any dish and couldn’t suggest any options that might suit me. It seems someone had no onion in one of their dishes once, then complained that it wasn’t good. This has now led to the rule that no changes to dishes are allowed. I said I understood that onion is integral to some dishes, and it mightn’t taste as it was intended and that I wouldn’t complain if I didn’t like it. I finally selected something I that I thought would be OK, and ordered it specifying that I wanted no onion. When the meal was delivered I was told to check myself for onion — unless it had huge chunks of onion, how was I supposed to be able to tell if there was any in there? They were quite rude with their service and avoided our table. I try not to be demanding or difficult with my meals, as I know that requests can be difficult, but I usually find that the chef is willing to discuss my needs and make something for me. They are also quite expensive for an asian restaurant. The others reported their meals were fine, but not great.

I dined here for the first time a week ago after wanting to try Rain for a long time, and I was most impressed! The restaurant has a lovely vibe, very clean with warm lighting. The service is impeccable as well — granted that we were having dinner when it wasn’t very busy, but we were totally doted on and it was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious — we had the Chicken Satay Skewers and Shallot Pancakes for entrees and the Choo Chee Curry with prawns for a main, and everything was amazing! I will drive miles for a good satay sauce and I found one here. The pancakes as well were delicious, a subtle flavour, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The curry was spicy with an unexpected flavour but very full-bodied. All up an amazing place for dinner. Will definitely frequent again!

I’ve been to this restaurant before it became Rain and I still frequent it a few times a year now, and I’m a big fan. The menu is extensive, and I’m impressed to find that almost anything I order is done to a very delicious standard. My picks are sizzling basil beef, crispy shredded beef and of course shallot pancakes(if you haven’t tried these before you are 100% missing out) I agree with both Julia and Lana in that the prices are slightly higher than your typical, run-of-the mill Asian restaurant, although keep in mind Rain doesn’t have the feel of doing things on the cheap that many(perhaps even most!) Chinese restaurants do. It is exactly as the name suggests, a modern, comfy bistro located on the Parade(another reason the prices are above average). The service is very friendly and the owner(as far as I can tell) works there every night. It has a huge bar, modern everything and sitting outside is quite nice as it’s away from the hustle and bustle of the retail section of the Parade. Bookings aren’t essential for lunch, however if you’re planning on attending dinner at peak times it becomes quite popular.

They’ve got great lunch deals: a starter and a good selection of mains to choose from, ranging from $ 14 to $ 22 for both. I had the dumpling and Pad Thai, which were both very tasty. My partner had spring rolls and a noodle stir fry; again, nothing fancy or spectacular but good. I would certainly go back for lunch because I feel the prices are justified, however I think for dinner it’s slightly overpriced for what it actually is. But then again, it’s on the Parade.

I tend to agree with Lana on this one! I’ve been here for catch ups with my mum and have always had great table service and always enjoyed the cool restaurant set up(very funky, sleek and cool), but we always seem to be the only ones there, give or take one more couple. Which can make it sometimes uncomfortable and makes you wonder why no one else seems to dine there more often. Their meals are a bit more expensive then asian cuisine on say, Gouger St — but the meals are good and tasty. However, the meals on Gouger street are good and tasty.

Rain does some delicious dishes — but in this golden age of cheap, tasty Asian dining, it can be hard to hand over more than $ 20 for a main. I feel so spoiled for choice when it comes to Asian food that I rarely dine at Rain. While the atmosphere is lovely and very inviting, with a long bar, warm lighting, comfy vibes, and food dropped down via dumb waiter from the chefs on the upper floor — it’s not something so spectacular that I’ll pay extra for it on a frequent basis. The food is good, with a mix of traditional dishes and more modern Aussie fare like kangaroo, Moreton Bay bugs and crocodile, with mains ranging from $ 15– $ 30. There’s certainly lots to choose from and service has always been good. Strictly an every now and then type affair for me.
