I haven’t had the opportunity yet to have some of their — supposedly — amazing breakfast but I had coffee here. To be honest, I didn’t find it that great and I had far better coffee before at heaps of other places. Not that it was bad, it just didn’t impress me, it’s was alright. The interior is very basic, nothing special but the fact that they have a terrace is a definite plus. The service that I experienced was friendly and their breakfast menu did look nice indeed. I’ll be back to try it someday. Maybe then they’ll have a better barista too.

Marmalade is definitely one of my favourite breakfast restaurants in Adelaide. Hidden away down a street off the parade, it is quieter and you are not drowned out by the traffic. My favourite meal there is the French toast. It is the perfect serving size, the right amount of maple syrup and a few mulberries. It is delicious. I always hesitate to get anything else because it’s always amazing, however, I have had the muesli. The serving size was tiny, definitely not enough to feed an adult. Their coffees are good and their smoothies amazing. I always get their banana one, you must try it. It is not a particularly large restaurant, but I have never not been able to get a table. Although, I would recommend booking if you are going in a larger group. The service isn’t overly friendly, but you get your food in reasonable time. Weirdly, they often have a few of the meals unavailable and rubbed off the menu board. I don’t know why this is, but it can be quite annoying if you go their craving something in particular.

Marmalade is a little diamond in the rough. There’s a lot of places you could grab breakfast from on The Parade, but if you’re after a breakfast that really impresses, I suggest you try out Marmalade. The breakfast I had included everything I could ask for — eggs, bacon, tomatos, and mushrooms all cooked to perfection. My girlfriend had a dish that involved smoked salmon and asparagus that looked as equally as appetizing. Sure enough, we were both very satisfied with both our food and the service. The beverages were another great surprise. Whilst I was being my usual boring self and ordered a coffee, my girlfriend ordered some obscure fruit smoothie as she usually would. To my surprise, it was delicious; and the coffee was also excellent. The outside area was also a perfect place to enjoy a sunny morning, away from the busy main street not far down the road. The only downer about Marmalade is it’s relatively short opening hours. If it were open a little later, I’d definitely head down for a late afternoon coffee or smoothie.

Just off The Parade at Norwood is Marmalade Café — the place to visit if you’re looking for a quick coffee or bite to eat for breakfast or lunch. These guys do great coffee and if you’re looking for fresh juice that a little different to the Boost Juice variety, then this is the place for you. I’ve never been there for brekky but by all accounts they do a cracking breakfast. I do however love their toasted focaccias. If you’re dining with a friend, I suggest getting two different fillings and swapping so you get to try the different flavours. Both the salami and the chicken are winners. There’s plenty of space at Marmalade with indoor and two outdoor areas. There are tables out front as well as a covered seating area in back. While I love eating at Marmalade, I have two criticisms. The food and coffee are always fresh and great but I sometimes feel like the place needs a bit of a clean or at least someone to straighten the chairs and tables to make things look neat and tidy. AND … here’s the biggie once again I was let down by the really dodgy loos. When will people learn, when you’ve gotta go, you’ve gotta go and a cruddy, dirty old toilet dampens the whole experience(if you’ll pardon the pun!)

I would like to join in with my fellow Marmalade lovers and offer my thanks to the establishment that invented a great ‘Big Breakfast’. Having said this, the last time I was there on a Sunday morning it was very busy and trying to get anything in the way of customer service was quite hard. In the end I had to stop a young man and ask him if we could have a table and then once we were seated he never bought us any menus and I had to go hunting for them myself. But the breakfast options are great and the fresh smoothies are good and a big size which is good value for money. The only bad thing was I asked for Hollandaise on the side and they said they didn’t have any… what kind of a breakfast place doesn’t have Hollandaise I ask… I’m still a little bewildered.

I have spent the better part of the last 15 years of my life erasing Mornings from my ‘awake’ time. I go to bed at 4 and get up at midday, and I quite simply could not be happier with that arrangement. However, on some occasions I am forced to brave the harsh sunlight and pull myself away from my pillow at some obscene hour. When this happens I fully get the munchies around 10:00 to 11:00, and I’ll give you the hot tip, it aint for a bowl of Special K! About a year ago now my Girlfriend dragged me to Breakfast with a group of her friends. Great guys, who I regard as mates also, but it must be a very brave person to drag me away from my bed! We went to a little place in Norwood called Marmalade, and, although I was hiding it masterfully, I was DARK! The only thing that was going to have a chance for me to genuinely become happy Scott was for a stupidly awesome ‘big ass’ breakfast to appear in front of me. Mission Achieved! I can say this honestly, The best breakfast I have ever eaten! Scambled eggs, two or three pigs worth of bacon, tomato, toast and possibly the best grilled Mushrooms on the planet(Heathly meat!)! One of my companions joined me, ordering the same, and we had many a ‘bro’ moment which ended in similtaneous weeping! The other food menu item that must be noted is the Breakfast Pizzas, which were out of site! The liquid options are what would be expected for breakfast, but with added quality. The juice, in particular, is freshly squeezed and amazing! Bloody expensive for what it is, but who cares, it just tastes that good(reminds me of the $ 5 shake in Pulp Fiction)! So, if you are unlucky enough to be awake before noon, get to your happy place quicker by dropping by Marmalade.

I’m a simple woman. I like bearded, dark haired men and breakfast foods*. I tend to order bacon and eggs, on principle, if it is on offer on a menu. I was once taken out for a farewell lunch to a fancy restaurant in London and ordered the bacon and eggs. It’s just how I roll. So as you can imagine, I’ve sampled one or two full breakfasts in my life. And I’ve got to agree with Scott that Marmalade has one of the best on offer, up there with anywhere else I’ve eaten. Marmalade itself is a cute little place — freshly decorated in citrus colours, it’s a skinny and long café with lots of outdoor seating. The last time I was there we sat out the back in the sunshine and soaked up a good dose of Vitamin D. The menu is pretty diverse with everything from laksa to pizza, but if you’re smart you’ll go straight for the aptly named ‘Big Breakfast’. All the usual suspects — eggs, bacon, fresh tomato, toast — and some of the yummiest, most buttery field mushrooms I’ve ever laid eyes on. The smoothies are also on point: fresh and fruity and cold, they’re the perfect way to recover from the amount of oil you just ingested. * Bonus points to anyone who gets this reference. Or anyone who brings me bearded men and bacon.
