I am not basing this review of it’s yum cha, but rather it’s steam boat option made available at dinner time. This is my go to place in the winter! For those not familiar with the dining experience of steam boat it is essentially a hot pot of flavoured broth(of your picking of flavour) and you essentially cook your own food in the broth. I nevfer go past the Tom Yum flavoured broth while new-comers may just enjoy the chicken broth. The food you can choose to add and cook at your pace in provided by a buffet style arrangement in the centre of th room. Ranging from vegetables, cuts of meat and seafood. There are also sides you can eat including kim chi, chicken wings, salad etc. Anybody who dines with me is truly shocked by the amount of food that I get. I hate constantly going back so I will fill a plate with meat, then one with an array of mushrooms, seafood, vegetables and then other. I love the action of cooking your food and then just sharing it all with friends. Service is fast and friendly and they are attentive to make sure your food doesnt boil over and top up the broth when needed. There are drinks and desserts available also at the buffet. Be wary that it is generic Asian style drinks and desserts and nothing special. See you there on the next rainy day! It warms you up so fast! And at only $ 40+ a head for buffet I am a fan!

This place was awesome. Yummy yum cha. A lot to choose from, not very expensive for Perth. Big place and friendly staff.

Now when my friend asked if I wanted to go here, I nearly said no just because of the word ‘seafood’ in the title. I am a vegetarian so that obviously put me off a bit, thinking rice would be my only option. This isn’t the case they had some amazing vegetarian options. All of which sounded delicious. I went for a traditional Chinese vegetable dish and it was so tasty. This couldn’t of been much better for me. There are a lot of Chinese restaurants in Northbridge and this one is pretty good, if they have a few more choices for the awkward people like myself it may of got a slightly higher rating.

Best dim sum in town and I found the menu list filled with variety and fabulous prices! My fav: Steam pau pork buns Claypot vege dish Loh Ma Kai Chilli chicken dish Ask for their chef specials and if you love fish, go for the steam fish ala ginger/soy sauce style! Absolute yummy-liscious!

This is one of my favourite places to come to for yum cha(or dim sum, if you prefer to dub it that). Steamed or fried, it all tastes so good, my favourite being the shark fin dumplings in the steamed department, with a side of bok choy, and the deep-fried squid tentacles in the fried arena. Your cup of Chinese tea is constantly topped up at no extra charge, and since I eat like a little piglet when I’m dining on yum cha, the tea has proven to be good for digestion! Drag me to Dragon for dim sum anytime, baby.

The selection of Dim Sim restaurants around China town is fairly extensive but it can be hard to expand your horizons when you get comfortble with your«usual». I generally enjoy expanding brancing out, but on this particular«Dragon seafood» occassion, I regretted straying. Directly opposite Northbridge plaza is Dragon Seafood– the lobsters in the window had me perplexed as to whether it was the water or the windows that were in desperate need of a clean– hesitently I proceeded. The atmosphere was busy, as I’ve found with all dim sum restaurants, and the food was good but the staff were impersonal and their service was mechancal.. . efficient to the point of basically whipping the table cloth out from under you. Our table sampled a wide selection of dishes including asian greens, tempura squid, pork buns, sticky rice, steamed and fried prawn dumplings, fried rice and chicken feet for one of our more adventurous diners!(not even mentioned to the western diner unless specifically requested.. . probably better that way!) Coming to a total of $ 80ish, fairly reasonable but not spectacular, especially considering the exhausted and disinterested service. Perhaps I’ve been spoilt with Hay Market Dim Sims in Sydney but in their defense, it was late in the(dim sim) day(3:15pm) so perhaps that’s when the last legs show themselves. A filling feed but no raging experience. You dim some you loose some.
