One of the nicest places to get coffee in the city. Extremely fast and if you love chicken toasted sandwiches, crib lane will have you hooked.

Not quite a hole in the wall coffee place but this place certainly comes close with it’s very narrow entrance that thankfully expands in the back to a slightly larger area with tables and chairs around the edge. Enough room I’d say to get at least ¾ of a cat swing in. On the coffee selection there are all the usual suspects flat white, latte, etc I really should be able to remember more about the menu, there was some food available too, but I was to enthralled by the wall lined with poster from bands tours and music festivals of years gone by. This I felt really gave the place a good splash of colour and there was the Campbell’s soup can hanging from the roof further into the shop too. Coffee hit the spot and the staff were cheer for the early hour it was that I dropped by.

I love this place… great place to grab lunch without breaking the budget… tasty tapas at $ 5.90 for 2 with loads of choice on the topping; salmon; mushrooms; beef; etc… if tapas aren’t your thing they have a different soup each day for $ 5 and a variety of panini’s… the coffee is smooth and rich and the service is done with a smile by some unique personalities.

Due to my fear of being late, I rocked up half an hour early for a UYE breakfast at The Stables Bar last week. As it was so early I was in need of a rare pre-breakfast coffee. It appeared that no other cafes were open in town. My trusty past Etro coffee window, which was always an early opener, was even shut. I stumbled across Crib Lane by accident, they were open and I had been meaning to try the place out for ages anyway. The service area is made of pallets, and gig posters plastered to the walls gives the place a welcomed edgy feel compared to its more upmarket and corporate neighbours. They have a takeaway section at the front of the café, with a selection of paninis, pastries, cakes and biscuits ready to go. Inside you can get a wider range of salads and other lunch menu items. Their coffee was good and I’ll be back to try their food.

Crib Lane looks like a proper hole in the wall at first glance, but a narrow entry makes way to a few tables in the back, making this a nice, intimate little joint. I dropped in for a takeaway coffee, which was smooth, rich and strong. At $ 4 for a regular cup, I’d say it was reasonably priced. The menu looked like it was made up mostly of standard modern café fare. That too seemed well-priced, though i can’t comment on the execution! Crib Lane is BYO and apparently does tapas. This combined with its location next to His Majesty’s could well make it an ideal location for a pre-theatre dinner. I look forward to giving it another whirl.
