This place is a little hard to find for someone like me who is new to Sydney. I found this place on Unilocal and was trying to navigate here using the Google maps. I walked back and forth until I realized that it is situated inside the food court of a mall. Found the restaurant in one corner and stood in the line to order food at the counter. The menu is clearly displayed on the board and with all the interesting choices that they carry, it was a tough choice to make. I finally settled for their popular Laksa and promised myself to come back again to try their Roti Canai with chicken curry. Hold on to the ticket number after making the payment. As soon as the food is ready, they call out the number to go pick up the food. My big bowl of Prawn Laksa looked delicious and I sat on one of the tables nearby. Portions are huge, I ended up packing half of it for lunch the next day. The brother was flavorful and yumm. Loved the tofu slices and the prawns. Noodles were perfectly cooked. Soooo good!

Certainly the best place for Singaporean/Malaysian at a good price in this area. Ambience is nothing special but the food and price makes up for it, and at least they have proper bowls and cutlery unlike the other impostors in this building. There’s more than just laksa, in fact I don’t think the laksa is the best thing on the menu. Five stars.

When I first went to Mays Laksa House I was very impressed, the food was tasty & fast price… meh ok. When I went to have lunch there last week with my work colleagues the chicken was cold on more one occasion and last week the chicken on my plate was undercooked and had blood oozing from the middle. This restaurant is still very busy but I would recommend you check the chicken before eating. Sometimes it is hard to tell with the colored curries but people could easily get sick from uncooked food. So basically I won’t be going back anytime soon.

Price increases of more than 10% from the new year 2014 e.g. Hainan Chicken Rice use to be $ 9.50 its not $ 10.50. There are cheaper places in North Sydney.

I work a couple days a week out of an office in North Sydney and am learning the lunch landscape there. When searching for a good ‘lunch’ option this place came up as the best. Luckily I had a hankering for Malay food; I miss Singapore lunch a bit. Boy was I impressed with May’s. It has what is probably the best chicken rice I’ve states since landing in Oz. They even have the dark soya sauce(something missing at other chicken rice shops). I knew they were authentic when t I placed my order and they apologized for only having breast meat left. Haha, guess I’m the only ang mo who likes the breast meat and thats fine by me. I’ll keep coming back here once a week. Yeah its in a food court but what could make it more authentic than that?

This is my favorite Laksa place in Sydney. Tucked away in a food court inside a shopping center, it’s not something you would find unless you know to go there. It’s really busy around lunch time, but usually dies down by 12:45pm. The service is fast and friendly, and the Laksa is fantastic. It’s spicy, so be careful if you’re not a person who can take spice. The chicken laksa is about $ 9, and the other types, like prawn, beef and vegetarian, are all in that price range.

May’s King Prawn Laksa(bee hoon) is the best I’ve had in Sydney. And if that doesn’t get your salty, spicy, creamy, noodle soup, ON… they have at least a dozen different variations of meats, noodles and broths including a smashing Asam Laksa for the hardcore spicy fish soup lovers amongst us. The Chicken Rice is all kinds of «I’ll have what she’s having» goodness. You will think an alien just teleported your a$$ to Singapore and back. Then you will silently wander back to your cube with a huge dopey smile on your face and change from a 10er in your sky rocket. Apparently there is loads of other good stuff to eat at May’s but unless I eat there 3 days a week I will never find out. If you haven’t discovered the joyous wonder of Laksa or Chicken Rice yet, there is little hope for you. But any hope there is, you will find at May’s. As for the enlightened rest of you, don’t walk, RUNTOMAY’S for your next North Sydney lunch appointment. But do it before 1pm because their Laksa and chicken rice is so good, they generally run out by 1:30.

My favorites here are the Laksa, Hainan Chicken, Nasi Goreng and Chicken Curry. After ordering you get a ticket and the food comes out pretty quickly. This is one of the most popular lunchtime eating spots in North Sydney. A Malaysian colleague(also a frequent visitor) says that the food here is better than some fancy Malaysian restaurants. Get here early to get your choice otherwise you might be disappointed when they run out. Love the ‘booth’ seating here but it’s quickly snapped up by other diners. They tend to play modern fast paced music too. Not sure if that’s a subtle hint to eat your food quick and move on! Worth a visit and definitely on my top 5 lunch spots during the working week.

Amazing Malay in North Sydney!!! Flavoursome laksa, fresh sambal, juicy hainanese chicken rice, and more. There is a reason the menu runs out if you get there close to 1pm and that the lines are crazy long while other paces in Berry Square are empty. This is as good as it gets for less than $ 10 meals. The only issue I can think of is that sometimes they run out of their prawn crackers
