Despite passing this place regularly for years this was our first time. Staff were accommodating and menu looked good. Perhaps I should have stuck to the recommendation of a laksa but nasi lamek is a fave of mine so I had that, pork rolls entrée and she had a noodle thing. The pork rolls were not what I expect yams very greasy and tasteless. Boo. The nasi lamek with beef rendang was a huge disappointment. The rendang was watery, full of what appeared to be shredded coconut and relatively tasteless. The rice was so full of coconut milk it was stodgy and heavy. Boo too. However the roti was good and she enjoyed her noodle thing although the shrimps were out of a tin. Seriously I wouldn’t be back. Much better to be had in the area.

Five stars of course. Five star service and delicious food run by family who treat you like family. I recommend the laksa, the best I have ever tried in Sydney.

If you’re gonna have a signature dish, make it the biggest, baddest, tastiest thing on your menu. Like the glorious King Prawn laksa. Awww yeah son, this thing is everything you want in a big bowl of chilli-laden delicious, and the key is in the broth. It’s compex, with creamy coconut, wonderfully subtle fish flavours, and the warm sambal kick topped out with noodles, bean sprouts and giant, firm king prawns that are almost a meal unto themselves. They’ll make it mild if you want, but you don’t want that. You want your face to scream in delight, you want to singe your eyebrows off, you want your tone writhing around in throes of ecstasy. Get it as spicy as you dare. It ain’t the cheapest going around at $ 16.90, but this is the North Shore so there’s that. The curry puffs are super good, too, and you can buy the home-made sambal in little tubs to take away for $ 4. You’re gonna want to do that. The ice cream at the end was just okay, but by then the battle was well and truly won.
