I recently started a new job in North Sydney which, as we know, is an epicurean wilderness. My first challenge was to find a regular café for my morning coffee and breakfast. Brewhaha was an early choice for the very good reason that it’s the closest café to my office. It’s also the closest café(indeed in the same building) as Cisco’s Sydney HQ, who’s robustly ex-pat personnel can occasionally provide some interesting people watching opportunities. Notwithstanding playing spot-the-self-important-yank, the café is friendly; the coffee and the food is good. My personal breakfast choice(cheese omelette with spinach and mushrooms on the side) is invariably presented with a friendly greeting, and invariably consumed while reading The Australian. It’s all very reasonably priced and the air-conditioning is effective, which is a boon during the Aussie summer. I would like more choices when breaking my fast, and the place is occasionally blighted by a table of shouty people, apparently unaware that they are sharing space with a number of fellow citizens. Otherwise, this is a great café. Step in with confidence.

I get my morning coffee from here. I work in North Sydney and get off at North Sydney train station. It’s on my way to work. I chose it because it never seemed to have a lot of people in the queue. This, I found out later, was due to swift work by their good-natured barista who effortlessly produces coffees. I find I’m on my way very quickly. The other staff are friendly and welcoming. Nice atmosphere. You can sit down if you like. They also have the eCoffeeCard electronic coffee card system, where you scan a barcode with your phone instead of getting a stamp. A really good system that is very quick to use. Unfortunately they don’t have their own website but are represented by eCoffeeCard: .
