Decent food, friendly service. The roast meats are pretty good and you can’t get them in other restaurants around the area. Place opens 7 days ’til late and they’ve also got good takeaway & dine-in specials.

Delicious! Honestly, it’s not much to look at, as a restaurant, but my Nasi Goreng was incredible. I think it was the best I have tasted. Price wasn’t bad — $ 11 for a take away lunch, I am used to cheaper in the inner city, but this was such great quality and cooked fresh to order. Service was fast and polite. I will go back and order it again!!! Yum! By the way, nicely stocked drinks fridge and take away waiting area benches are a nice touch. ***Edit 17⁄12 — I did go back. Yesterday. The Nasi Goreng was even yummier!!! Love it!

Great little spot in North Melbourne. I had the Peking Style Beef and fried rice. First time I’ve had it and it was amazing! I also had the Chicken Satay Skewers which were very delicious. The service was good and the restaurant looked well presented, but the toilets looked unmaintained and run down. Overall it was a good experience with tasty food and I would probably come here again if I’m in the area again.

There are a bunch of pretty low budget Asian restaurants along Errol Street, but Char Siu is actually pretty good. I’ve eaten here a few times and always been pleased. My top choice here is the vegetarian laksa with a side of roti. They also do a pretty good Vietnamese rice paper roll if you’re after a quick snack.

Char Siu House serves up a selection of standard takeaway Chinese food. There’s nothing to write home about in terms of quality, but it is made on order, rather than sitting in a bay-marree, and it’s reasonably priced, at around $ 12 for a main. The place seems always close to empty, so I wonder how they stay afloat, but this isn’t reflected in the freshness of the food, which is fine. Char Siu House deserves another star for offering Steamed BBQ Pork Buns on their menu, which I stand by as the all-time best hangover cure. Seriously, two of these babies(at around $ 2 a pop) and you’ll have bounced back from what would otherwise be a day of couch-ridden self-pity.
