I picked up some takeaway from here a few weeks back. This little strip of shops has 3 Italian restaurants with 50 metres, and they’re all busy. The food was good, with dishes costing around $ 20 each. The interior was pretty slick looking, reminiscent of bars in Subiaco when I was in my early twenties if you know what I mean.

I recently read a review by Rob Broadfield in The West newspaper where he wrote that Perth was lacking middle range Italian restaurants. His complaint being that Italian restaurants were either cheap and cheerful or top end. Well, Rob obviously hasn’t been to Attivo yet, as this restaurant really hits that mark. The restaurant has lovely modern décor and good service. It does a good amount of take aways too, which gives an indication of the quality of the food. My pet hate is that when I go to Italian restaurants(usually the cheap and cheerful kind) the pasta dishes end up drowned in sauce that tastes like either bland tinned tomatoes, or cream. Usually the lack of flavour is «made up for» by gigantor, wasteful serving sizes. It annoys me because I could do better myself at home! Well not at Attivo, the pasta dishes served are full of flavour and delicious. I also had oysters for entrée, they were really fresh! There’s a good wine selection too. Attivo is my new favourite restaurant. I love it so much that I’ve recommended it to nearly everybody i know. I’d visit it every day, and twice on Sundays if I could get away with it.

I have to say this was a rollercoaster ride of a dining experience today. I really wanted to love it but some elements let it down. The prawns and the scallops had no caramelization and the lamb fillets could have been seared first to add some slight textural difference. All elements of the dishes were cooked well besides the for mentioned, with good balanced flavours. The service was the standout winner of the day, with quick and efficient service. Whilst attivo won’t make my favourite list, it certainly had some good points. Food 6.5÷10 service 8.5÷10 décor 7.5÷10

Service here is excellent and welcoming, I felt straight at home and almost instantly hungry when I cam here. It’s not the only Italian in North Beach but they opt for upmarket and class to separate themselves from the competition. The ravioli is so delicious, especially the seafood but I will not be eating in here often due to the cost but for what it is it isn’t extraordinary, just a little out of my normal budget. The menu is extensive. I would love to come back to try the beef carpaccio, my mouth is watering already.

Attivo has brought a modern Mediterranean style to North Beach’s lovely dining ambience. Their delicious menu includes a variety of lamb, chicken, seafood, pasta and risotto dishes. The prices vary from $ 15 to $ 45, so it’s not a cheap Italian restaurant like many, although the décor is very smart and sophisticated making it a pleasant place for a relaxed yet quality meal. My person favourite is the pollo paesana: chicken breast strips, bacon, spring onion, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, garlic, seeded mustard, crack black pepper and a touch of chilli in a cream sauce. Fortunately, Attivo is open 7 days a week, so I can devour my favourite pasta any day I wish.
