The Lounge Bar

Food average. Service below average. Had the menu for about 45 seconds and mr pushy was over asking for the order.
Food arrived quickly, however the whole grain bread they advertised was a massive wedge of white bread.
Coffee not great either.
On the plus side — visually, it’s a nice looking place. But won’t be back.

Stopped by for a coffee (mocha) tasted more like a hot chocolate, latte is fine, quick and friendly service

Dark clouds gather…
I’ve wanted to come to Lounge Bar for a while now, but I skipped it twice previously (in favour of other cafes) for the same reason — It’s dark. Something casts an ominous shadow over this café that removes the incentive to go in.
Even sitting outside wasn’t the people watching experience I was expecting. I found myself hurriedly finishing my drink and jetting off to go sit in the sun at Bradfield Park (which is a short walk away).
Inside is a spacious café, with a long bench (suitable for the diners) and a comfy lounge area (suitable for the loungers). On the day I visited at lunchtime it was predominantly take aways with a small group eating lunch. They do coffee, and a simple menu, and they also appeared to be licenced. The staff are friendly and greet their regulars by name (with a quick chat).
On a rainy day, this would be THE perfect location to bring your laptop and settle in for a long coffee and code crunching session. However, on a sunny day it lacks the al fresco allure of other cafes in the area.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place! It had become obvious after going from place to place that Sunday breakfast in Kirribilli is served before 11.15am. It was 11.30am and I was starving! The place looked quiet so I was hesitant but once inside I loved the interior and amazing timber tables and comfy chairs. The service was also welcoming. Coffee was great and the food exceeded expectations… I loved it. Glad I went and would go back again!

It might say bar, but I think this place is more of a café, but never the less it is great. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and seem to know what they are doing, so they work very efficiently. They make great espresso and you can enjoy a tasty breakfast with it at a reasonable price in a nice and warm atmosphere. Pretty easy to find, mainly for it’s flashy décor, but don’t be fooled by it on the inside it’s quite cosy.

Across the road from the Milsons Point train station on the Luna Park side is the perfect tourist café. It’s cheap, it is modest, it is comfortable plus it’s close to public transport, to the CBD, hotels and popular tourist attractions. But why it’s really great for tourists is that it is quite big and has a lot of couch areas set up like a bunch of mini lounge rooms in a warehouse… loosely speaking. With two TVs (playing kids shows when I was there on a Saturday morning) this definitely has a chill out and time out feel to it. In fact, it reminded me of some of the cafes I came across on my travels through Central and South America that were owned by ex pats who had brought their ideal chill out food venue to a cheap and cheerful part of the world.
The menu is by no means anything to rave about. It’s very simple but it’s cheap and includes all the obvious dishes — breakfasts like toasted muesli ($ 9.50), Pancakes ($ 7.50), banana bread with ricotta and honey ($ 8.50), scrambled eggs on toast ($ 7), bacon and egg muffin — maccas style ($ 6), french toast with maple syrup, ricotta and strawberry ($ 11.50). They have ready made sandwiches, wraps, sausage rolls, pastries, caramel slice and muesli bars. Nothing fancy but all looks fresh.
But for me this place is all about the chairs. The couches, the solid timber wooden stools, the retro green table seats. The long wooden communal tables are pretty cool too. The big windows let in a lot of light. It’s the kind of place when you’ve had too many days wondering around sight seeing that you could crash at all day and refuel with cake and coffee.
Cash only. Table service and very helpful wait people. One went out of her way to seat me at the most comfortable, convenient chair in the place (I believe) because I had a pram.
Mochas are very sweet with a tint of hazelnut.
No gluten free bread. Children’ seats available.

Great place for breakfast and a good cup of coffee to start off the day. Just across from Milsons Point train station. Wonderful interior and friendly service. Recommended.
