Christmas has arrived, not only does this little chocolate shop do the best hot chocolate ever! It’s a treat for all Christmas & chocolate lovers. Buying for yourself or for loved ones there is something for everyone here, small or large, milk or dark absolutely lovely! The variety of hot chocolate is fabulous, I had a dark lavender hot choc, your first taste is stunning, cocoa & lavender without the sickly sweetness you usually get with hot chocolate. Can’t wait to try another flavour!

One of my favorite places to stop in Kirribilli… I love the drinking chocolate selection, the handmade beautiful chocolates they make, and the selection of chocolate bars. It’s a cozy little place to sip your hot chocolate at the big wooden table, chat with friends or the friendly staff. I love they they always have a bottle of water at the table filled with fresh mint.

Only discovered this today despite being a regular in the area. It’s tucked in a side street of Kirribilli and easy to miss. Friendly service, amazing coffee and iced chocolate. Love the peppermint dark chocolate. Will definitely be back.

Organic. Handmade. Chocolates. What’s not to love? Coco Chocolates only uses the best ingredients — namely, quality chocolate with a high cocoa density — mixed up with unusual spices and herbs like lemongrass, bergamot and cardamom. The diminutive shop is an exercise in cute, centred on a communal bench flanked by shelves stocked with chocolatey goods. There, you can sit down and enjoy a coffee for morning tea or simply indulge in an artisanal bon bon. They’ve won awards for their dark chocolate bar infused with rose and black pepper, but my fave are the ‘olives de Provence’ — cellophane wrapped bags of roasted almonds coated in chocolate and painted in various shades of green, parading as those little savoury nibbles. The packaging is also gorgeous, often featuring vintage logos or illustrations. I’m pretty keen to book in for one of their ‘connoisseur tasting’ sessions; held once a month, they include a lesson on how to temper chocolate and a selection of sweet treats.

I can still smell the dark, wickedly non-bitter and very very moreish chocolate… *drools*… Why? Because I could not leave the store without buying some. :-) On the hunt for yet another café, I stumbled upon a store front that almost seemed boarded up with news clippings and other laminated articles, and if it was not for the«Chocolate» that caught my eye, I may have missed out entirely. The shop maybe quite small, but it is packed with so many varieties of deliciousness that you’ll be hard pressed to choose. I decided that I should try to find the ultimate match for a couple of the smoky Islay single malts I have at home. The desire therefore was to find something 80+% cocoa solids, giving a rich comparison to savour the smoky peat. At this request I was presented a sample of the perfect dark choc. Within seconds I had found what I was after. Not to stop there I was then presented a sample of tobacco chocolate which contained heavily caramelised cocoa which was then mixed in with 60% choc. The result was a crisp, almost nutty result which while delicious, was not as good as the 80% I then purchased. No this is not the cheapest chocolate you will find, but it has to be close to the best in Sydney. I would certainly recommend them if good quality choc is what you are after. By the way, they also serve Sacred Grounds coffee here which I can not review as I did not drink any here, but you might want to should you drop in.

The original Coco Chocolate store, this shop isn’t as attractive as the Mosman counterpart but it still sells the same great product. This is chocolate to be savoured. Held on the tongue in tiny pieces until it trickles towards your throat. Organic. Dark. Delicious chocolate for adults. The packaging is beautiful and reminds me of my Grandpa tobacco pouch — bound with the secret of the forbidden contents within. I love the Earl Grey Dark Chocolate, as well as the Lavender Milk Chocolate. The flavours are so refined and elegant, it’s hard to stop at one pouch. In fact I don’t think I ever have. If you’re a bit so-so about chocolate this shop will elevate you. It’s hard not to be as passionate as the owner Rebecca clearly is.

The finest chocolate in Sydney can be found at Coco Chocolate. The boutique chocolate shop specialises in ‘real chocolate’ — that is chocolate made by local artisan chocolatiers with high coco content and premium coco butter. Oh and of course it is all organic. Given all this you might think a trip to Coco Chocolate may be a bit too pretentious for your liking. In actuality, a stop a Coco Chocolate is both a pleasure and an indulgence. The shop itself is actually quite humble considering the quality of the chocolate it is home to. Chocolate lines the walls and the centre of this charming space is actually a communal table which is very inviting for a coffee or tea. Staff know their products inside out and are very helpful with suggestions and any questions you might have. Any of their treats make for a wonderful gift, so if you’re looking for something a bit different this is the place to pick it up!
