Came here with a voucher, around $ 84 for a 9 course banquet for 4 including sake. Ended up only 3 of us going, but we still made sure they served us for 4. The banquets consisted of: Miso soup — nice, but nothing special, included regular onion, which I thought was odd, Salad — avocado, lettuce, that glass seaweedy type stuff(wow I’m good at explaining foods I don’t know the name of aren’t I, haha), and a nice dressing(although it had a bit of a kick to it) Salmon Sashimi — really really good & fresh Takoyaki — on the small side, but cooked perfectly Fried Oysters — I love a fresh oyster, but not a massive fan of fried. Tonkatsu style crumb was nice and crunchy without being oily Gyoza — burnt, filling not too bad Okonomiyaki — I really liked it. Fellow diners found it a little undercooked. Chicken skewers — came with big chunks of onion, was OK, but seemed like they’d been sitting out a little. Green Tea Ice Cream — not a fan so I didn’t eat it, but the chocolate wafer sticks were divine! Sake — offered cold or warm, we went cold. I didn’t drink much. Service was really friendly, and food came out quick enough, but we weren’t offering any drinks(to purchase or free water), so had to ask. Topping up of the water was a little slow. We also had to ask what some dishes were as it wasn’t explained. I’m glad there was only 3 of us, as I would’ve left hungry if we had to share between 4. All in all, it was okay I guess. No rush to go back, but I’d give it another go if someone else suggested a bite on the run. Fun Fact: one of the walls is covered by a massive mirror. Do with this what you will(like stand in front and checking yourself out and adjusting your dress numerous times like of the very few other diners did)

Just suitable for people who work near there. I could not tell good things about it. A average ramen shop. Only open for lunch. Closed at 3pm. But they do accept American Express.

Pretty average again. Considering how fierce the competition is in the CBD with so much appreciation and interest in ramen, I was surprised how the ramen didn’t live up to it’s reputation here. Beautiful shop and friendly staff and never seemed too busy when I went on a weekday dinner but soup, noodles and toppings were satisfactory. It’s consistent in terms of service, speed and quality but you have better options that are only a hop and skip away.

The house specialty is tonkatsu ramen which is a pork broth and pork belly slices ramen. The flavour of this was smooth almost creamy as a soup while the noodles were firm enough to pick up with a fork rather than chops sticks. The pork belly slices were only a few sitting on top of the noodles and two halves of boiled egg. While I enjoyed the taste it did seem to put me in to a carb coma afterwards so I won’t be having one of these for lunch anytime soon. There’s plenty of seating inside once you get past the huge wooden door off Bourke St so you should never have to wait for a table.

The restaurant looked busy, and it was a wet, cold day, so I was very excited to try some hot tasty ramen. Sadly, I was disappointed. I got the Charshu Ramen, which in the picture had several nice thick slices of pork. Not the case in real life. What I got was a soupy mess, with several sliver-thin slices of mostly fat. The broth tasted ok, but nothing to write home about. The one good thing I can say is that the service was quick and friendly. But I’m guessing there are better places to get some noodles.

Ramen Ya! I am sorry but your Ramen is over rated! Tonkotsu broth of your are both bland and boring. The noodles were over cooked. Service was none existent. However, the chatshu were tender and flavorful which gave you the only one star.

I’ve been way too spoiled with ramen from Ramen Dojo, Santa Ramen or Katana Ya in San Mateo and SF. Ramen Ya in comparison just doesn’t even begin to stack up. The broth was just salty and I can’t remember anything else from this place. The tea and salad were go though, but considering this place isn’t called the tea and salad ya place that doesn’t help much.

Hmmmm. Somewhat disappointed. I went here expecting a Ramen house of grand spectacle; they type where one is overwhelmed for choice, but ultimately rewarded. The noodles at least should serve as the central most integral component of importance. Yes, I’ll admit to some tautology in alliteration, but really it’s all about the noodles. Everything else comes last. And the options on offer were few and far between can’t I choose Noodles? Scant and basic offerings of actual Ramen, which is filled with all manner of mystery goop and strange food items. Regardless, it still hits the spot and does the job well. I went for the Kim chi Ramen version, which also has little bits of finely sliced pork belly– while this is truly delicious I was hoping for a vegetarian option as well as build your own Ramen. Not so the case.

The Hiyashi Chuka, consisting of cold ramen with ham, seaweed, egg, lettuce & tomatoes, is very refreshing in summer. Its more like a salad than noodle dish.

Takoyaki balls, woohoo! Ramen ya has branched out and its second store offers the same great ramen as the original place but with the added delight of takoyaki balls, woohoo! If you haven’t guessed already, I love takoyaki. And for those who don’t know what they are, takoyaki is octopus balls. No wait, it’s not what you think. They’re balls of batter which contain octopus and ginger and green onion, though there are variations on the recipe. They’re then cooked in a special takoyaki pan and covered in sauce and mayo. Before you rush over to grab yourself some balls, like I did, you should know that they’re only available during dinner through the week and during lunch and dinner on the weekend. Although I was told that they’re working to make them available around the clock in the future.
