Totally love the sushi burger. Forget the burger bun. Sushi bun is the one. Soft shell crab is to die for and not to forget the udon noodle too. Go ahead and try. No regrets.

The home of the Melbourne sushi burger, and a great cheap eat in the CBD. The deals are great value– get a sushi burger and gyoza for 10 dollars, or a sushi burger and a salad for the same. Sushi burgers are fillings such as spicy raw tuna, vegetable croquettes or tempura with lettuce and sauce sandwiched in between rice wrapped with seaweed. They are filling and yummy. Though, I do think that by themselves some are quite pricy(7 – 8 dollars.) My favourite is the spicy raw tuna– it is somehow refreshing, spicy and filling at the same time. I think this place is a great lunch option if you work in the city!

One thing I really miss from Singapore/Japan is Mos Burger. In particular, their rice burgers. So when I accidentally discovered this place selling sushi burgers while I was in Melbourne, I may have got a little bit excited. Imagine a burger, made out of sushi. Rice patties instead of bread, with a wide range of traditional sushi style burger fillings like raw or smoked salmon, avocado, soft shelled crab, teriyaki, karaage, tuna, prawns, eel, Kewpie mayo, wasabi, etc. All held together with a big piece of seaweed. The simplicity of a burger, with the fresh simple flavours of sushi, a match made in heaven. How come it took so long for someone to come up with this, & why is it not found everywhere in the world already?

Not really a burger more-so than an oversized roll. Nice sauce inside.

Love sushi? And burgers? Well there’s one place in Melbourne that decided to combine the two and create the ultimate novelty dish — Sushi Burgers. Your choice of filling is topped and tailed with round-pressed circles of rice which act as the bun. To hold it all together, and make it officially a sushi, a thick strip of seaweed is wrapped around it to keep things together. All burgers contain mayo, sauce and lettuce, and all are made fresh to order. You can be a traditionalist and get a hamburger sushi burger which has a meat patty in the middle, or you can be a little more adventurous and choose from a host of other like the Spicy Raw Tuna Burger — Fresh tuna sashimi in mayo-based spicy sauce. The Soft Shell Crab Burger, the Teriyaki Eel & Cucumber Burger or the Kani Croquette Burger — Cream croquette with crab meat. And trust me there’s much more to choose from. The burger price range from $ 5.50 and $ 7.50 and are $ 1 cheaper takeaway. They also have all the regular dishes you’d find at a Japanese restaurant on offer. But the star here is the burger, no question about that.
