I have found my favourite pub in Sydney. I haven’t even been to that many pubs here but I know this is the one. It’s amazing ! I love the Glebe area in general and Mr Falcons is one of Glebes best little gems. Gorgeous inside, cosy and colourful. It’s like a house inside with the different rooms all with seating, it’s such a nice place to spend the day with friends. The smoking area is lovely too and the bar staff are awesome. So lovely and friendly. Will come here over and over again

I generally rate bars based on the vibe, ’cause(discounting gimmick/theme, which can be relatively incidental) that tends to be the most changeable thing bar-to-bar in a city that now has a lot of small bars; and whether anything memorable happens. I’ve been to Mr Falcon’s a number of times and the one memorable thing that happened is that the thumping bass from a band dislodged a picture high up on the wall which fell and narrowly missed hitting my friend on the head.(She’d raised her hand to make a point and it deflected the picture.) The staff are really great with the banter, the drinks are good, sometimes it takes a while to get served ’cause the bar is so small but where’s the rush?, there’s heaps of couches all over plus a beer garden-y bit out the back and lots of poky little rooms to stick your head into when you’re looking for your mates, it’s popular with the uni kids from over the road and all sorts — all this, but I’d only ever choose this bar for convenience’s sake; it’s never, «Let’s go to Mr Falcon’s!!!» that comes out of my mouth. But maybe I’m just doing it wrong; it’s certainly popular.

The bald guy with glasses cared more about talking to his friend then serving the long line of customers. Maybe if he had more hair he would have more care.

Beautiful atmosphere, like a little house with different rooms in which you can chill with your friends on a sofa or even on the terrace! Every couch is unique, original and nice drinks(like the Black Russian, my first try) :-))

The spiked hot cider was excellent. Totally hit the spot. Live guitar player & singer downstairs was a little loud. Good music & would have preferred to hang downstairs to chill to his music if I could also have a conversation while he played. The upstairs as 3 or so rooms. An eclectic jumbling of furniture. Each room feels like a private living room. Went on Tuesday evening on a date and we had the room to ourselves for most of the time we were there.

Mr Falcons is one of the cosy bars to be in the glebe at the winter time. The staff are friendly locals always happy to chat with the customers. They have a wide selection of alcohols with many local brands. They have the best name for a cocktail the falcon punch and server a cold slushy and warm mulled apple cider both perfect in either season. Regular live bands and on mondays they do a night of tv episodes upstair where they recently showed the latest season of game of thrones.

You’re not hipster unless there is a bicycle in your window. Im a well known Nay-sayer when it comes to Hipster décor, but you have to hand it to these guys. They have taken a slice of my entire 90s lifestyle and made it into a business. No kidding, If you ever lived in a share house in Redfern, Surry Hills or Glebe in the 90s, you’d know exactly how the inside of Mr Falcons looks. A Rabbit warren of rooms in an old terrace house, filled with old couches and eclectic knick knacks. Creaky old 3 level wooden stair case, and a high walled back yard with a bunch of stuff in it ala the White Stripes song«hardest button to button» lyrics.(A stick, a dog, and a box with somethin in it) The Music was also very familiar to me, I’m pretty sure Icehouse’s Electric blue was one of my favourites back in the day… The only new thing in the place is the Toilets, which I was thankful for. Old share house loos are notoriously leaky and irreparably stained with a hundred thousand results of large nights had by students. Décor aside, They make some mean mother freaking cocktails here. I tried an Old fashioned. There was a lot of Cherry to it, but it mellowed after 5 or so minutes. Serving all their drinks in mismatched glasses, they even had tiny little martini glasses from which my friend and I partook in the imbibing of some Patron XO Café Dark Cocoa Tequila. I kid you not, as soon as I can get my hands on a whole bottle of this, I’ll be in heaven. I may not be able to type for some time, but that’s a sacrifice I am willing to make. They do food too, though I didnt try any I noticed Cheese platters and the like. Staff were super super friendly hashtag Joaquin Phoenix in the movie«Her» outfit. I wont hold their clothes against them.

Went here on a Monday night as my friend settled here for his graduation drinks after walking around Glebe looking for places still open late at night after dinner. The place feels great and the décor looks good, quite cool I think when I saw the styling they had in mind when opening the place. There is an outside area at the back which has a nice atmosphere but we were sitting upstairs in one of the rooms and the vibe was good and different from most bars. The drinks menu is good from what I saw but as I found out that there is $ 5 German cider, I went ahead and got that. Quite a good place to go after you have eaten dinner around the Glebe area or just want to find a place to drink with your friends.

I have always passed by Mr Falcons and been intrigued with their cozy interior and near-constant stream of acoustic musicians who play every night of the week. Last night after a crappy Surry Hills dining experience BF and I decided to have a post-dinner bevy here to drown our sorrows. It’s definitely a funky place, as all of the the Unilocalers have well-described. I’m just not a fan of staff that are more interested in chatting amongst themselves and their friends at the bar than serving customers. Maybe I was über-sensitive after a unsatisfactory dinner, but there were at least four staff who stood around for a good five minutes bantering with each other and the seated bar patrons, cutting fruit, and doing everything they could to ignore us. They had clearly seen us walk up to the bar as well, and we were the only ones waiting. I get it, you’re too cool for school! You’re hip and ironic! And I’m thirsty! Even when we finally did get a barmaid’s attention, one of her colleagues pulled her away to chat about something that clearly was more important than what she actually gets paid to do. Oh well. ‘Tis the curse of the American ex-pat; we expect every waitperson to be fully dedicated to customer service in order to earn their daily bread. I miss that sometimes. Anyway, Orion draft beers($ 8) are served in a big glass handle, which is a nice touch. We secured a table near the open door to escape the heat indoors. After finishing, we noticed the staff embracing some newly-arrived patrons with hugs and shots. I liked this place, and I’ll give it another try, but clearly there’s an «in-crowd» chilling here that I am not part of. Yet.

Well this place got me last night with the musicians playing all the Carlos Santana classics I love so much, the notes wafting outside its doors onto the street. I was like«whats this place? OHTHISISWHEREWEAREGOINGNOW? YAY!» :) Inside is full of funky couches and very trendy looking, chilled out people. typical Glebe crowd. We went upstairs to hang out, there are lots of little rooms and crevices and pokey little places to check out and hang out. It’s a really great place to just hang out and have a drink and a great conversation.

We used a voucher from living social on a Friday night. Service was poor, unclean tables and staff was rude when we asked to clear. Wine selection was unappetising which was confirmed by taste. Cheese & fruit platter had hardly any on it. We won’t be going back which is unfortunate as I’m a local.

Mr Falcons was a delight. It’s a bar you can explore. There are nooks and crannies, under-stairs hideaways and sofas galore. It’s completely overdone, but who cares. They make good use of a late 19th century building by accentuating rather than denying its features. The barman was a little surly but that discontent seemed to be directed at the world, and not particularly at me. When I was here it was a weeknight and it was pretty quiet(but not so empty that it felt weird) and it occurred to me that it would be a good date spot. Can’t comment with any authority on whether it gets busy on the weekends, though I bet it does.

Awesome décor and wonderful cocktails(the bartender really knows his stuff!) — cosy and chilled. In particular, the French martinis and the margaritas were perfect. Definitely recommend.

This place is sure to become another Glebe institution! I stumbled upon it post work when my favourite Glebe bar was closed and boy am I glad I got this opportunity. The staff were incredible. I think Nick is the owner– his wine knowledge and passional blew my mind. I had a delicious Primitivo wine which he said was akin to a Zinfandel and could not have been more spot on — it was exactly what I felt like. Aesthetically, I love that style of the place– the lounges, the atmosphere, the bar set up. It seems to me that this is a perfect haven for a winters night and looks like it could be found down an alleyway in Melbourne or New York. I had to dash off to a dinner on my visit but can’t wait to return and indulge in the charcuterie & cheese plate! Mmmm my top three favourite things — Wine, Cheese & Meat(not necessarily in that order)…

It was the couches that got me in the first instance. They made me pop my head in, which ensured the rest of me quickly followed. The further I explored Mr Falcon’s the more I felt like Alice down the rabbit hole. Rooms of all shapes and sizes decked out in an array of décor both homey and classy-without-trying, and stuffed to the gills with a plethora of redonculously comfortable couches that I would steal if I could. Had a cracking chat with Nic the owner, surely one of the friendliest men in Glebe.(How friendly? He left his post and ran over to the convenience store across the road to fetch something for a customer in need. Now that’s service, dammit!) Mr Falcon’s(ask how it got its name) only started 3 months ago but already I can see this becoming one of my favourite o’er-bridge haunts. The only difficulty is deciding which of the grand selection of wines to go with — a cider perhaps? — and then choosing where to plonk yourself: The big street-facing room with the lamps and the candles that staff light and bring around when dusk falls? The secret Edgar Allen Poe nook beneath the stairs, resplendent with chaise lounge and prohibition-sneak? The upstairs room where the popular burlesque shows are held? The hidden backyard, with bamboo and rustic-shabby character? Or what I’m going to call the Imperial Room, all dark hues and aged leather? Eh, whatever, they’re all exceptional and inviting and exceptionally inviting. A rare find.
