Regular pub with plenty of regulars. Some birds weren’t meant to be caged and you learn that here at the Broadway Lounge. It is inspiring for young singers and entertainers as it has a Broadway, as in New York, theme and runs a very successful Kareoke night where you can also buy $ 10 pizzas, the best $ 10 pizzas in Sydney by the way. This is great for groups but you could easily get away unnoticed here grabbing a quenching schooner on the way home from work too. A full bar is available and there is no BYO.

I am a poor dude. I can’t escape it, the government recognises my poor dude status and returns most of my tax dollars to me. Downright neighbourly of them. Being a poor dude, I have poor dude friends. And being as such, we’re always on the never-ending quest for cheap eats. High and low, we search. Mercifully, The Broadway Lounge has a generally affordable menu and an almost constant rotation of lunch and dinner specials. The $ 10 perch fillet is a fairly tasty option and other dudes out there need to be aware: fish is an essential source of Omega 3 and it will help your memory and keep your coat shiny. Don’t skimp on it! There are also steak and chicken specials, along with the requisite bucket of beers, happy hour, and pizza deals. Perhaps the thing I like best about this place is that I usually forget that it is a pub; inside, it feels more like a bistro/café combination but with all the best parts of having a liquor licence.(FYI: I am pretty sure that this was known as Hotel Broadway or the Broadway Hotel until fairly recently, so if you’re looking for your old haunt, it’s still here).

I guess you could call this an all purpose pub. The coffee is delicious if you’re there during the day, the menu is varied and reasonably priced and the beer and the nightlife, once it gets dark, though throughout the day if you’re keen, is ripe for the picking. I found myself a quiet booth within the establishment and got out my laptop. The main room has its share of retro kitsch on the wall and the televisions all seem to be playing sport. The bartender takes my order and brings me out a coffee a short while later. The bathrooms are a bit dirty, but it’s a pub so you have to expect that. Outside the seats are nice but the constant traffic along Broadway can be a little irritating if you’re subject to it for an extended period of time.
