Excellent service that began on Christmas Eve when I sent an enquiry online and got a call shortly afterwards then follow up emails confirming, then answering my queries then increasing my booking to 12 people! Just had lunch there today and was inspired to write a review. Great setting and helpful staff made for a very pleasant experience. Oh and the food was delicious! Had the 2 course lunch special and chose the honey bug and the hapuka fillet, and the white wine that came with it was yummy. Not going to pretend I’m a big food or wine critic because it was the overall vibe that made Glebe Point Diner stand out for me.

Excellent food and service with the occasional rude waiter, a little pricey but worthwhile

This is the fourth time we’ve eaten here. Service is reliably friendly and reasonably quick. Best to make reservations as they tend to pack up consistently. Bit of a local haunt for the Blackwattle Bay end of Glebe. Food is also reliably good, though at times you might want a bit more on your plate(that’s the greedy me speaking). Menu options, including desserts are sparse, but this makes it easy to choose and they haven’t run out of anything on the nights we’ve been(a mix of busy and not — Fridays, Tuesdays). Specials are written up on the board and that’s what we’ve been selecting from as they have been pretty tasty(wagyu skirt last night was excellent). Parking might be a little difficult up this end of Glebe, though it’s not paid like the other end closer to Parramatta Rd. The vibe is actually pretty nice, the maitre d’ excellent and very efficient. Dress seems a little classier than I’m used to, but didn’t get any frowns which was good. Décor is great — darkened but nice looking. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Charming, quaint and award-winning, this American modern-retro style diner is well worth a visit. Book one of the cosy, intimate sofa seats on the front balcony, a perfect spot to sample the wine and dishes or sit indoors for a more lively, buzzing atmosphere. Everything here is made from scratch, from the pasta, and the hand-churned butter, to the freshly squeezed lemonade(served in a tall glass with a paper straw), most of the produce is organic or biodynamic, and everything tastes great. My picks are the Queensland Scallops, Fried Pigs Tail And Corn Purée, or the Thirlmere Chicken Liver Pâté With Onion Preserve And Toast to start(both $ 18). Followed by the Nz Snapper Fillet With S.A. Clams, Fennel, Peas And Tarragon($ 34) or the Burrawong Corn & Pasture-Fed Chicken; Leg And Breast, Braised In Tomato With Chickpeas And Olives($ 32). Finish with the Cheese board to share, with House Made Lavoche and Pear Paste(including Chäs & Co. Heublumen, Semi-Hard, St. Gallen, Switzerland, Lingot Chevre Du Pelussin, Rhone Alpes, France, Tarago River Cheese Co. Shadows Of Blue, Gippsland, Vic) for $ 21. Also on offer are entrees including Heirloom Carrots, Spiced Lentils, Pickled Beets And Labna($ 18), Spencer Gulf Squid With Aioli And Lemon($ 18), and Double-Baked Swiss Gruyère Soufflé With Rocket Salad($ 22); and mains including Queensland Spanner Crab With Home-Made Fettucine, chilli oil and tomato($ 28), Windsor Duck And Portobello Mushrooms Pie With Parsnip Purée and Chard($ 28), Cape Grim Grass-Fed Scotch Fillet With Caramelised Onion, Butter, Asparagus And Onion Ring($ 34), and desserts including Mango And Passionfruit Salad With Pineapple Granita($ 15), Almond Dacquoise With Mascarpone And Botrytis Semillon Syrup($ 15), Dark Chocolate Mousse With Strawberry Compote($ 15).

I had booked a dinner reservation at Glebe Point Diner earlier this year. I chose this award-winning restaurant after hearing about the superb food. Now, I shrug my shoulders in disappointment. I don’t know what to tell you. I expected the food to be as expensive as it was, but after what we paid, the quality left a lot to be desired. I had the fish(I believe it was salmon) and my friend had the steak. While my fish was fine, my friend’s steak, which he ordered to be cooked rare, had arrived at the table way past rare. It was overcooked. When we told the waiter, she instantly apologized and obliged to have it changed. So well after I finished my plate, about 30 minutes later, the rare steak was sent over to out table. This is way too long to keep someone waiting for his corrected meal. Especially since it was a rare steak that should take no more than 10 minutes to prepare. We weren’t offered any complementary food or drinks as a result of the long wait. Despite this, our appetizer, the kingfish carpaccio, was excellent. So was the brandy I had after dessert. The restaurant is beautifully designed and the menu changes frequently. There is lovely outdoor seating and a great selection of wines. Overall, I believe my experience was an unusual occurrence, so I will be coming back here sometime soon with a fresh plate.

This has got to be the most inviting little restaurant ever. It took me about 3 strolls past to realize that I MUST try it. Glebe Point Diner has the comfiest, coziest white plush armchairs at its outside tables and a precious black /white /pea green décor on the inside. The word«diner» in the past has always summoned associations of soggy waffles and 50 year-old waitresses on roller skates. This isn’t that type of place. No, no, this might be the nicest restaurant in Glebe. And oh how modest it is. I went on a weekday night with my mum and dad. Make sure you make a booking well in advance because this spot is small and popular. Aka the perfect cocktail for disaster if you don’t plan ahead. Glebe Point Diner has an ever-changing menu designed to adapt to the season and freshest ingredients. When I went, I ordered a flawlessly delicious artichoke soup. My mum had pumpkin ravioli accompanied by a rich yet light cream sauce. We finished off our meal with three impeccable little macaroons. I can’t wait to go again, snag a seat at one of their outdoor tables and sample what summer dishes the brilliant chefs have created. This true Sydney gem is definitely worth a try.

Lunch at Glebe Point Diner is flawless. I’ve long been hearing rave reviews about this restaurant and finally made it there recently for lunch with my family. The dining room itself was a lot more casual than expected, but modern and inviting nonetheless with green leather banquettes, high ceilings and an open kitchen. Service was efficient yet friendly, our waitress describing their specials in detail and encouraging a shared starter of twice-baked gruyère soufflé with rocket side salad(great tip!). Main courses were just as delicious — I sampled a grilled snapper fillet atop finely sliced fennel, sautéed down into a slightly sweet yet aniseed sauce with fresh peas and baby steamed clams, while the scotch fillet also came to the table smothered in creamy caramelised onion, a million layered potato galette and well-seasoned witled silverbeet. Dessert was simple but offered pretty generous portion sizes — we tried the rhubarb frangipane tart and chocolate parfait with macerated strawberries — but I liked that their menu also offered petit fours at $ 2.50 a pop if you only felt like a little mouthful of something sweet(the spiced marshmallow, a particularly tempting offer).
