As Camilla P. mentions below, there is not a whole lot of Medicare practices in Perth. It absolutely drives me bonkers(but please let me not distract how awesome free healthcare is). I have one receipt that needs to be reimbursed and it has taken me literally 3 times trying to find the place, the 4th time(here) I was told that I couldn’t submit a copy of a receipt? What? Why? I got a copy from the doctor and then made a copy for Medicare’s records. After 4 times, I gave up. Instead, I’m mailing a new copy from the doctor because I’d prefer to never step inside another Medicare place. Medicare’s website, to me, seems to constantly give wrong information. Locations populate for«Medicare» but then upon arrival, they are Centrelinks. As an Expat, I don’t really know the difference other than I’m sent away(nicely) to find another Medicare. I feel like I’m on an infomercial, scratching my head and exclaiming, «There must be a better way.»

This Medicare is notoriously always busy. There aren’t a whole lot of Medicare practices in Perth, and along with Subiaco’s branch, is responsible for serving the western suburbs. It’s easily accessible by bus, with the 106 and 148(amongst many other services), stopping directly outside the doors. The wait might be long, but the process is incredible simple. Just grab a number from the machine and wait till you’re called to the counter. If it makes it any less painful, this office is also air conditioned, and located right next to a news agency so you can grab some reading material to while the time away.
