There is a time in life where you just need to sit down with a green juice, and re-think your general lifestyle and health. ANDTHEREIS A TIMEINLIFEWHEREYOUJUSTGOFORTHECARBSANDTHEBIGBURGER. Sunday was one of these times! Moo Burgers is like a fickle Italian mistress, teasing you and looking very … appealing and sultry on paper, but in the end a lot of it was for the show! (For the ladies) Moo Burgers is like a sexy mysterious Cuban lover, teasing you and looking very … appealing and sultry on paper, but in the end you feel like one amongst a too large number of conquests! The wagyu burger is big, and full of onions and beef and cheese and that was nice! But where the quantity was sufficient, the quality wasn’t just quote there: onions aren’t grilled enough, the cheese isn’t that tasty and the wagyu could as well be standard beef. Onion rings as a side were nice, and I like a good side and the Peroni to go with it made things better. The staff is nice, the wait was a bit long but it was busy, and the place isn’t too loud which is a plus. I recommend the place if you are hungry as it isn’t dear and it’s close to the beach. If you want a great burger though, I’d give it a miss. PS a duck burger with fries cooked in duck fat … Groovy baby!

Underwhelmed. The musical. I was going to give this 3-star, but that’d be generous. It’s a hands-down 2-star joint. Why? (1) It’s expensive. $ 17 for a burger and chips. (2) It’s slow. I watched as the guy after me in line made a massive take-away order, and proceeded to leave with it prior to myself OR the guy before me receiving our sit-down food. Ridiculous. I ended up waiting something like 20 minutes for a $ 17 burger and chips. (3) It’s just not that great. It’s not bad food. It’ll fill your stomach. But it wasn’t flavour full. An I-waited-20-minutes-for-a-$ 17-burger-and-chips meal should have me doing a Marshall on HIMYM and reminiscing thus: «Just a Burger? Just a burger. Robin, it’s so much more than *just a burger* I mean… that first bite – oh, what heaven that first bite is. The bun, like a sesame freckled breast of an angel, resting gently on the ketchup and mustard below, flavors mingling in a seductive pas de deux. And then… a pickle! The most playful little pickle! Then a slice of tomato, a leaf of lettuce and a… a patty of ground beef so exquisite, swirling in your mouth, breaking apart, and combining again in a fugue of sweets and savor so delightful. This is no mere sandwich of grilled meat and toasted bread, Robin. This is God, speaking to us in food.» No playful little pickle. No exquisite ground beef. No mustard-n-sauce pas de deux. Sadly, Moo Burger IS just a burger :(

This is basically the Aussie version of Bareburger/Americans have a small chain just like this called Bareburger. Price points are actually exactly the same, even with the difference in pricing between Sydney and New York. It’s between $ 12 – 16 for a burger, depending on the type of meat. The burgers here are definitely large and filling, I was always super satisfied with the portion, as well as the quality. Every time I ate here, I requested it to be cooked medium rare, and it was always cooked perfectly. The best part was the student special that was $ 12 for a regular burger that included a huge heaping of fries and a drink. The fries were in the potato wedge form, which I don’t prefer, but they were never soggy here and had a good crisp to them. The décor also had that rustic feel with the wooden tables and benches. If you’re hankering for a burger in Coogee, Moo Burger is a safe bet.

I feel so sick, but it was worth it and completely self inflicted, I am full of Mooteaser. I went to Moo Gourmet Burger café, forget about the burgers go straight for the desserts. A Mooteaser, is a milkshake chocolate milkshake also featuring Malteasers and more malt. It was so good and I have a tendency to drink milkshakes too fast and then I feel sick as was the case here. Also the Milkshakes at Moo look really cool and appropriate in theme as they smear the topping on the inside of the glass in a way to make them look like a cow, very cute.

Sometimes you just feel like a big, greasy burger. Moo Burgers deliver on that junk food treat but it actually seems a lot more guilt free than a mega chain. They are served on a sourdough bun and you can get gluten free. They have sooooo many burger concoctions to suit everyone. Some great vegetarian options like a lentil burger which is surprisingly yummy. A red kidney bean burger, really?! A fish burger also. The greek lamb burger is my favourite, with a gorgeous tzatiki which I always order extra. There are plenty of sides and extras to create your own invention so I am sure Moo will quench that naughty craving.

Moo burgers are a-moo-zing. The sheer variety is mind-boggling — classic, cheese, avocado and bacon, egg, pineapple, relish, piri-piri — all just some of the flavour sensations that you can choose from for a normal beef burger. On top of this, they have chicken, salmon, pork, lamb, duck and veggie burgers. Phewph. The quality of the meat is excellent — ethically farmed, sustainable and hormone and antibiotic free. It’s definitely worth ordering a bowl of chips and a bowl of onion rings and then sharing them between your table, as both are delicious and the generous portions make it almost impossible to polish off a bowl to yourself. This is not the place to come if you’re on a diet, although a small range of fairly depressing-looking salads are available for those in possession of steely willpower. Although it leaves me feeling fit-to-burst, a milkshake is essential — you’ll never taste such a delicious blend of creamy, crunchy and cold. Oreo, Tim Tam, Crunchie, Snickers and a load of other chocolatey treats can be whizzed up with milk and ice cream and served with a flourish of syrup and a straw. Bliss. The Coogee beach location makes it the perfect place to come for an early dinner after a day on the sand, or as a welcome respite from the midday sun. It’s worth grabbing a table near the street if you can, to watch the hustle and bustle and perhaps catch a glimpse of the ocean. However, if you’d prefer to tuck in to your burger in the comfort of your own home, they offer a takeaway service, too.
