Great, authentic ramen. When all the tables around you are full of Japanese patrons, you know you’re doing something right. I still prefer Ippudo, but this is pretty damn good!

I love you Ramen, I love you like the way they do on the ‘I Love Noodles’ YouTube clip(no really, watch it) and you taste oh, so, good here at the Chatswood Hakata Maru. Though if only you had a better location, because on the ‘other’ side of the train track’s just… kinda, out of the way. But you know, I’ll still make that trek. That’s really all I have to say. It’s traditional tonkotsu Hakata ramen and it’s awesome. Although, still not quite as good as the Ichiran ramen I had in Hakata city, it’s close. p.s like this a lot better than Ippudo.

Popped in for lunch today around 2pm and it wasnt as busy. Order and pay at the door and then take a seat and wait. We got served some table water as well as little bowls of garden salad. Then I got my Prawn tonkatsu and my partner got the pork. This place has more thinner style noodles but with a really nice broth. They had more variety when it came to what sort of meat. Two new options which i have never seen is the prawn and deep fried chicken. My partners pork was the crumbed style but he enjoyed it. Overall, great first visit.

Small but well run business with what appeared to be authentic selections of Japanese raven, at least according to the friend I was with who had lived in Japan for 8 years. I enjoyed their signature dish.

Went there one night when I was on a one dish per shop eating tour … This was the first place we hit up and just ordered one dan dan ranman shared between two of us. Nice flavour but wasn’t sure the noodle. It was this white noodle rather than normal ranman yellow noodle. But the soup was so good so the noddles didn’t matter lol try it if you look for nice noodle dish in the area

I have eaten here twice now and embarrassingly have not tried the ramen yet… on both occasions I have had curry and on both occasions it has been delicious. The real standout for me was the salad dressing. It is so well balanced. It is seriously the tastiest thing I think I have ever eaten. Absolutely incredible. I have also been practicing my beginner Japanese on the staff. I am sure the last thing they want to hear is bad Japanese at work but they have always been very welcoming and laugh at me! I will be back(for ramen, I promise) — this place is awesome.

I’d been meaning to try the city one for ages, so I jumped at the chance to eat here! The place is a short walk from Chatswood station. It’s hidden in a building, away from all the other restaurants. Don’t lose heart if you can’t find it! It’s really there! The place is a bit small, with several sharing tables if you don’t mind dining with strangers. We opted to wait for our own table, which took around 10 minutes on a Friday night. I ordered the red ramen and chicken karaage. Food arrived pretty quickly. The chicken karaage was OK, but it wasn’t really karaage — it was more like a fried chicken cutlet, sliced into pieces. Oh well. 3⁄5. The red ramen itself was good. It had great flavor in it – a bit spicy, and very very tasty! This is definitely for you if you like a tastier, saltier broth. The chashu was all right — Ippudo still beats the competition when it comes to a soft chashu, but it was by no means tough. 4⁄5. Great service, a solid 4⁄5 experience.

A good ramen place! We were craving for the hakata ramen again so here we are! Broth is the right consistency for me. Rich and delicious and not too thick like gumshara. Pork is delicious. Service is fast. The ramen is so delicious ! Love this place.
