Nice little coffee shop on Nicholson Street around the corner from Brunswick Street. I hadn’t really noticed it before and that’s a loss for me because the coffee was gorgeous.

Oh Carolina! A group of colleagues and I ducked in here for a quick work lunch recently and there were no regrets! It’s a funky little venue with nick naks on the walls to keep you occupied while you wait for your meal. The food was fresh and vibrant. Between us we sampled the Fritters, Vietnamese chicken salad and the Avocado toast. Service is friendly and efficient and the overall vibe is relaxed.

The food is excellent and creative. The décor is cute and comfortable. Some of the staff are very friendly, however, some could improve as they don’t even smile, but that is just a little issue and I would recommend a visit to this café.

I live nearby and eat here one or twice per week, sometimes twice per day. Great coffee, friendly staff and an excellent menu make it worthwhile. The daily specials are unique and interesting, and they have a good variety of options including gluten free and vegetarian. Seating is comfy and it is very suitable for solo diners and for getting some work done.

From the outside it may not look like a pumping a café, but head on in and a charming environment awaits. Go further in and find the green oasis in the courtyard at the back — perfect on a sunny day. Feeling a little worse for wear? Grab a Bloody Mary or some strong coffee from Seven Seeds. The fresh OJ is delicious, but at $ 6.50 the«large» wasn’t all that generous. It was mostly ice and foam. The bircher is legit. Oats mixed with with almonds, nutmeg, loads of berries and rosewater spiked yoghurt. The $ 12 pricetag and pretty pink hue makes me want to eat it every day. The smashed avo on sourdough($ 11) comes with the option of an additional tomato salad or broadbeans/goat cheese combo for an extra $ 4. We went with the broadbeans in attempt to get more roughage, though it was more cheese than broadbeans. Oh well, it’s the thought that counts, right? With a great booze list and loads of brunchy options available until 3pm, I can imagine this as a great Sunday session location when you need just a little more than a hair of the dog.

I always used to walk past here — usually on my way somewhere else for breakfast, lunch or dinner — and wonder what this old shop had turned into but never ventured inside. One day I happened to be nearby and happened to be hungry, so decided it was time to check out Carolina for a solo lunch mission. I kicked things off with a homemade lemon myrtle tea — amazing! Then got busy with their take on smashed avo on toast which came with buffalo mozzarella, peas and mint — tasty! I settled in here with my Kindle for a little while, accompanied by a few other solo diners on laptops and smartphones. I felt right at home. I’ve been back since and indulged in their back courtyard and front bar. It’s a great local spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Coffee is consistently good, there’s some delicious sweet treats on offer, lots of unique homemade beverages and they even serve mulled wine on winter evenings. Carolina you’re a good chick.

An absolute gem on the corner of Nicholson and Brunswick Road, Carolina is well worth a visit. The food is yummy, and the décor and atmosphere is warm and inviting. The staff are friendly as well and there are lovely antiques lining the walls. A great brunch spot.

Great little café for breakfast, brunch, and even dinner for those ‘in the know’. It is very hipster, very allergy friendly, and very high quality food. They have a great outside area, perfect for brunch on a Sunday.

Intimate little bar only slightly off the beaten track. Cosy, warm and quiet with a hearty menu and a reasonably priced wine list, this place had the most delectably homely and welcoming atmosphere to sooth our souls on a wintery Melbourne night. While I haven’t ventured here during the day to experience it in its café incarnation, as a restaurant/bar, it was simply gorgeous. For a quiet drink or romantic casual dinner this comfy gem is hard to beat.

Carolina is a quaint café on Nicholson Street with a great back area perfect for Sunday brunch. The coffee, food, and service were good. The only problem is the wait. I know it’s Sunday and I know I have to wait for brunch, but this was a ridiculously long wait. I can’t even remember how long, it was just long. The server did warn us that coffee would take awhile, which it did, but there was no mention of the food taking just as long. We got in around around 12 and left around 2. I ordered the braised beans with poached eggs and bacon steak. The bacon steak was my favourite — it was thick and delicious. I would come back just for the bacon steak.
