Australia Post, Annandale

A fairly well stocked shop for a post office, in one of the oldest buildings in Annandale at the corner of Booth and Johnston. If you are here at midday or end of the day expect a long wait — the queue goes out the door.
Since they are in an old building, they don’t have an auto pickup for packages so its the queue for you.
Hopefully when Australian’s get over this heritage building thing for anything over 20yrs old, they’ll remodel it and put in something more practical for a modern delivery service.

The Annandale Post Office is responsible for delivering my essential items through the now-​antiquated postal system. Foreign video games, transgressive cinema, my ASOS supply packages, 1970s San Diego Chargers memorabilia, you name it. It does a good job at this.
Here’s where the system breaks down: as anyone who works a traditional Monday to Friday 9-​to-​5 week will be able to tell you, receiving a «package unable to be delivered» slip is akin to a hex upon your house. I know what you will be doing on Saturday morning, buddy: queuing up in the post office and wondering if your eBay addiction has finally gotten so far out of hand so as to prevent you from enjoy a regular Saturday doing real people thing like running in the park and other activities.
Unfortunately, Annandale Post Office isn’t open on Saturdays. .. so how are you supposed to rescue your packages from postal purgatory? Beats me, I always had to take a «reluctant» sick day to complete the mission, but for everyone else with any sense of responsibility, I assume your mail is locked up forever, wondering why you have abandoned it.
And they wonder why people call it «going postal».
