Zelda Zonk

I had an interesting experience over at Zelda Zonk last night. I attended a friend’s birthday get-​together, and she highlighted the place’s awesome view (it IS awesome, indeed) and very chic atmosphere (also true). Drinks were pricey, at 15TL for a 33cl Efes beer and minimum 30TL for a cocktail. I had a Lynchburg Lemonade, which was strong and delicious — worth the money, I think, ‘cuz a lot of bartenders in Istanbul barely put any alcohol in their cocktails.
Sooo all was well even though I was resigned to just enjoy one drink. I went downstairs to the food part of Zelda Zonk, and I was contemplating ordering something until the waiter straight-​up told us that the portions were small. (Prices for a main course ranged from 40−70TL, and he suggested we also order appetizers). Yeahhh… no.
Unless you are a rich person or being taken out on a date by a rich person, skip this place. It’s hard to find and super pretentious. I guess it’s okay to go once, though, for a good cocktail and a bit of a splurge.
