Great casual outdoor dining on a steep neighborhood street a couple of blocks down the hill from the main tourist boulevard in Sultanhamet, Istanbul. A five minute walk from the Grand Bazaar and a ten minute walk from the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, yet far enough from the main religious areas that alcohol is served.(But you can still easily hear the calls to prayer.) Food is flavorful and ample; selections are numerous and varied; prices are good for the quality and quantity. Figure around 50TL-60TL per person for appetizer, entrée, and drink. Owner(?) Heybet, whose English is quite good, kept us merrily entertained without intruding on our privacy. Open late(to midnight) even on a Tuesday.

Found this place by chance and would definitely go again! The owner was very friendly, funny and genuinely cared about our dining experience. We dined for lunch on a hot day and he took the time to turn the fan towards us; he talked to us about our travels and overall the customer service was incredible. If you want to experience good Turkish food, eat here. We ordered the ottoman plate and the shepherd plate and both were delicious. Some of the best Turkish food we’ve had. We highly recommend this restaurant; WHYNOT?

Just don’t go here. Food was microwaved and reheated. When I told them it was still cold, they microwaved it another minute and brought it out again. Then they charged an extra 10% «tax». In all of Europe, tax is included in the price. They must have known food was bad. It was.

Turkish food at its best. The flavors are super, the owner friendly, the atmosphere friendly, the wine perfect and the price right. It is off the Main Street in old town. In a quiet neighborhood. Of all the places we ate Turkish food this was the most flavorable.
