When my friends said that they wanted to meet at a fish and chips place for dinner, I was a little worried, to tell the truth. Why would anyone want to go eat something British in Istanbul? But they said that there was no need to worry, they wouldn’t go out and eat something mediocre just for the sake of doing something«different». And sure enough — both the fish and the chips were just fine. The way they are supposed to be — the fish not too soggy, not too dry, crusty batter and all, and the fries nice and crispy, really fresh and, well, all potato. Clearly more than just some novelty place for non-discerning locals or homesick tourists. Some of us said that the oil they use for frying could be not just good but excellent, but I didn’t really find anything wrong with it. Good tasty fun to start a Saturday night on Bagdat Caddesi.
