Great Kebap right in the heart of Taksim Sq. I was craving for Kebap on my first day in Istanbul and stopped by this place because I noticed that there were only Turkish people and no foreigner in this place at all. The restaurant is old-style table-serviced and the menu is limited(mostly to just 3 – 4 handful variety of kebaps and some salad/lentil soups) and a couple of desserts. Main courses are around 14 – 19TL(8 – 11USD). If you want, you can choose to sit upstairs next to the window to get a great view of the buzzling Istiklal St as well. I ordered a can of diet coke(3TL)and the Shish Kebap with Yoghurt(16TL) and the kebap was EXCELLENT! I actually don’t like eating red meats but the combination of meat, yoghurt-topped and toasted bread underneath, tomatoes and peppers was devouring… I actually finished the whole plate. Since they had just 3 choices of desserts(bread pudding, Turkish gulab jamun, and Ekmek Kadayifi) available, I just randomly picked one calld Ekmek Kadayifi(looks like a piece of cake soaked in syrup). Honestly, the dessert was WAYYY too sweet for my taste but I’m glad I tried it. Overall, great service. The guy who waited my table was really attentive. The minute I got upstairs, he was promped in seating me and taking my drink orders. As soon as finished my kebap plate, he was already there to take away my plate. The bill came to 27TL without tip. I wouldn’t mind stopping by this place again if I have craving for Kebap. Definitely exceeded my expectations!
