Weihnachtsmarkt am Bellevue

Very small but you can get Gluhwein and sausage/​Raclette and crêpe. Unless you are into crafts or holiday shopping, this small market would make you feel festive enough.
There is one big wooden house where you can drink Gluhwein so you don’t have to feel too cold outside.
Stop by with your friends and have a xmas-​shoe glass of Gluhwein and enjoy the lovely holiday lights of Zurich.

Cute Christmas market village in front of the Zurich Opera House. The location is excellent, right by the Bellevue tram hub, super convenient to get to. I have been there twice already since it opened a few days ago. The music they play at this market is more Classical than Holiday, which was a welcoming change. You can find the typical Swiss stuff such as Fondue, Raclette, and, Gluhwein (Mulled wine). But the unique thing this Christmas market has to offer is a rotating carousel bar that serves Gluhwein and hot Caipirinha. The platform rotates very slowly. I had to watch it for a few seconds to be sure it was in fact moving. I suppose it’s in case anyone had one too many of their steaming alcoholic beverages.
There’s also a skating rink made of plastic instead of ice. I’ve never seen anything like it before. It’s called «Green Ice» since it requires no electricity to maintain. Doesn’t look like it has the same effect as real ice though. The children seem to enjoy it despite the double effort they have to put in to clumsily glide around the rink. I kind of wished they used real ice as I enjoy ice skating much more than plexiglass gliding. I will have to find my ice time elsewhere… oh well.

Der Weihnachtsmarkt am Bellevue ist ein recht kleiner seiner Art. Leider hat es geregnet, als wir im Dezember da waren. Mit einem Glühbier (ja doch, ich empfehle jedem das mal zu probieren!) und einem Glühwein ging das aber ganz gut.
Die Lage ist echt sehr gut. Gleich beim Bellevue ist es ein toller Treffpunkt. Nur wünschte ich mir, dass der Markt grösser wäre, und vor allem irgendwie gemütlicher.
Da ich eh nicht so auf das Krims-​Krams-​Zeug stehe und der Markt doch einiges an Kulinarik zu bieten hat, war’s gar nicht soo schlecht. So konnten wir zum Beispiel wie gesagt Glühbier, speziellen Glühwein und eine alttschechische Spezialität (ein Teig mit Zucker) probieren. Trotzdem mag ich den Markt am HB besser.

The Bellevue Christmas market is also nice to visit too. It was good to have a drink with an old school friend there. There are some shops to check and we only spent a short time in this place.

Von der Lage und der Beleuchtung her ist der Weihnachtsmarkt am Sechseläutenplatz top. Er ist aber nicht allzu gross und beherbergt eine weitaus kleinere Auswahl als der Weihnachtsmarkt am HB.
Mich wundert auch, dass auch am Wochenende recht früh Schluss ist. War das letzte Mal kurz nach 10 in der Gegend und dachte mir, dass ich mir noch einen Glühwein gönnen könnte, aber da war hier schon alles dicht und die Lichter aus.
Der Glühwein mit Amaretto ist empfehlenswert.

Good to stop by for lunch if you’re in the area. I heard it’s prettier at night with all the lights, but during the day we got some sunshine, even though it was still cold.
CHF 8 for Raclette and CHF 6 for Glühwein. Not as big as the other xmas markets, but nice location by the lake with enough stands that you start getting repeats of crepes, Glühwein, Raclette, and Bratwurst for sale.
I did notice stands selling Hungarian Lángos and goulash and Feuerzangenbowle, so those were also nice additions to the mix.
