Al Fiume

This restaurant is absolutely horrible, nothing fits the bill.

I had lunch at this restaurant with Italian food. Personnel and prices were not Italian ;)
The view from the tables next to the window was great! I was able to get a window table without reservation, but I’d recommend you to make one if you want to be sure… There are only a few tables with this view…
I’d ordered a risotto con funghi porcini and wasn’t disappointed… Really enjoyed it. The price was steep though: 28 CHF.
The service was ok. Friendly but not efficient. They forgot to bring the drink my friend had ordered and then ended up bringing the wrong one when we’d reminded them.
It’s a nice place and I’ll probably go back… Not much you can do about Swiss prices and the food and view were worth a visit.

All the places with nice views are full or totally booked next to the Rhine. We walked around trying to find a nice place and we ran into this nice restaurant! Service was friendly, it was kind of hot in there but the windows were only a bit opened. Had a nice family and friendly atmosphere. I felt very comfortable! Food came fast and there were many pasta and pizza types to choose from. I don’t know why people are complaining about prices since I found it very budget friendly for a place in Switzerland. Food was delicious, my boyfriend had the super spicy pizza and it was Italian-​like, except there was maybe a bit exaggerated on the cheese. I had the pesto gnocchi and I was satisfied. We could get a table at the window so we had a nice view of the river, but that was entirely pure luck! If you can book in advance for that, then try to do that :) overall a good option if you want nice service, good food, price (for Switzerland), and a chance of a good view!

Wir hatten eine Pizza mit Rohschinken, die ok war. Wir teilten uns die Pizza zu zweit.
Fürchterlich fand ich, dass wir fürs Teilen der Pizza 5 CHF mehr zahlen mussten.
Das nächste Mal würde ich woanders hingehen oder mir woanders eine Takeaway-​Pizza holen. Sorry, aber hier gefiel es mir nicht. Die Sicht auf den Fluss ist schön.

Great view of the Rhine, late night hours, good pizza. I ordered the Giuliana (Gorgonzola & ham) and it was tasty with high-​quality ingredients and a delicate but crisp crust.
My only complaints: the interior is a bit gaudy and the service was really slow. There was one poor guy taking orders, making pizza, and waiting tables all by himself.

Pizza Prosciutto (e funghi) ist top. Verglichen mit D teuer, aber das duerfte Basel-​typisch sein.

Früher war das mal der Florian. Wie der Name Al fiume (am Fluss) vermuten lässt, werden hier jetzt italienische Speisen serviert. Unter dem Servicepersonal konnte ich zwar keine Italiener ausmachen, schon gar nicht beim Pizzaiolo, dennoch wurden wir kulinarisch nicht enttäuscht.
Wir wagten uns an «Pesce misti», gebratene Fische und Crevetten. Die Fische waren wirklich frisch und mediterran mit wenig Olivenöl zubereitet. Dazu gabs als Gemüse Blattspinat, perfekt mit etwas Knoblauch gedünstet, wie man ihn auch in der Toscana bekommt, und weissen Reis.
Weil der Hauptgang so gut war bestellten wir auch noch Dessert. Es gibt hausgemachtes Tiramisu und Panna Cotta. Wir entschieden uns für letzteres und auch das war einschliesslich des mitbestellten Espressos ein Genuss.
Zur Atmosphäre: Wir hatten zum Glück einen Tisch mit Sicht auf den Rhein ergattert, denn der Raum ist ansonsten etwas einfach und lieblos eingerichtet und hat das kalte Flair einer Kantine.
Die Preise liegen im Vergleich zu anderen italienischen Restaurants unverständlicherweise höher. CHF 9 für einem grünen Salat und über CHF 22 für eine Pizza oder noch etwas mehr einen Teller Spaghetti erwartet man entweder in einem Restaurant gehobener Klasse oder in einem, das direkt am Canale Grande liegt. Beides ist aber in dem einfach gehaltenen Restaurant nicht der Fall.
Weil’s uns aber geschmeckt hat gibts 3 Sterne, gäbe es auch halbe, hätte ich mit 3,5 bewertet.

Sehr freundlicher service das essen war prima alles super kann ich nur weiterempfehlen die beste adresse um ein bequemes mahlzeit zum essen und geniessen.

Sehr enttäuscht. Wir wollten eigentlich Kaffee trinken und Dessert essen gehen. Als wir uns dann setzten kam ein Kellner, grüsste nicht, fragte was wir wollten und als wir es sagten hiess es nur, am Fenster gäbe es nur Essen, kein Kaffee und Dessert. Das Restaurant war jedoch praktisch leer. Als wir dann gingen würdigte man jns keines Blickes mehr. Und die Preise wären teuer genug!

Das Restaurant hat mir das Herz erobert. Ich gehe schon fast jedes Wochenende dort hin und es ist immer wieder aufs Neue sehr gut. Ich kann euch das nur weiterempfehlen.
Als Vorspeise nehme ich immer wieder Bruschettis, die einfach immer wieder himmlisch schmecken. Zum Hauptgang gibt es verschiedene tolle Gerichte. Mein Lieblingsessen dort sind die tagliatelle porcini.
Das Restaurant liegt am Rheinufer und bietet eine entspannte Atmosphäre.
Das Preis– Leistungsverhältnis ist optimal.

Das Restaurant kann man wirklich weiterempfehlen. Die Pizza ist mit Abstand die beste in ganz Basel und am Rheinblick kann man sich gar nicht satt sehen, Top Lage! Ausserdem gibt es eine grosse Auswahl und für jeden Geschmack etwas! Werde auf jeden Fall wieder dort essen gehen!
