What’s not to love? The Princess Cake is fantastic, the other pastries are expertly made and delicious, the coffee is endless and the service is friendly. Plus it’s right in the thick of it all. You can get goodies to consume on site, or get in the line to the right for takeaway. Will probably have to go back at least once more beforw leaving town.

So cute and so tasty! It’s hard to miss Vete-Katten strolling around Norrmalm. I popped in here early in the day for some pastry action before making the trek to explore Djurgården. I’m not much for desserts, but I really enjoyed the two sweet buns(vanilla and cinnamon) I got. My friend got a slice of princess cake takeaway, and it came beautifully wrapped. The interior hasn’t lost its 1920s charm, and to that end I’d recommend finding someplace else for your quick, efficient breakfast and putting in some quality fika time at Vete-Katten.

We were refer here by a cheff, what is interesting is that the place has a 1920’s style and the food is very good atleast what we tried, I wish my cinnamon bun was warm but I guess that is not the way is originally served :) is still good

When you’re in Sweden, you need to try their famous Princess cake(prinsesstårta). It’s sooooo good! I’ve also tried their passion fruit mousse cake with raspberry mousse filling and hazelnut crust on the bottom, and really rich and dense chocolate cake. They are all good. I wish I would have had more time to try other cakes and pastries.

I thought it was about time to update my review of this joint! I finally have been here a few times(gone in and ordered from the«newer» side instead of the historic side this time). And, I love it here! The deserts were really delightful. I totally get all the hype now! The interior décor is pleasant and their coffee hits the spot! It’s really one of the better fika locations in the city. I had a somewhat different experience the visiting the older side of the café(not knowing about the«newer» side’s renovation). Where it was dark and a bit average, the renovated side is bright and lovely. It just goes to show you should be informed about where your going! And, always give a place a second chance! The only issue I really have with the place is that it can get super duper crowded in here. I guess that’s a good problem for them to have, just not for a customer like me. I would’ve been back to visit several more times by now, but out of fear for the crowds… i haven’t even attempted it. There was one time a month ago when I couldn’t even get in the door! I wish they would open another location nearby(in addition to the Sture Katten in östermalm) to meet the demand!

Super delicious pasteries and cakes! The bakery is huge, with several different rooms in various styles. Recommending the kanelbulle(cinnamon bun).

We were wandering Stockholm’s downtown busy shopping district in search of a decent coffee spot. Ellen F. and I love the cafes in Europe as they are definitely unique and different from ours in the states, and when we get a chance we make it a mission to visit one. In comes Vete-Katten, it’s located not far from Stockholm’s main train station in Norrmalm. Very busy area loaded with many shops, I recommend you take the metro as it is reasonable and convenient. Definitly would have a hard time finding parking, if your a group of 4 or more then Über is worth the money. This place has been around since 1928, in my opinion very classy and old school on the inside. Huge seating area, should find a spot but at night after hours it does get crowded. The coffee was absolutely amazing along with thier desserts. The cheesecake was awesome, please order it. If you need water or more milk there is a station where you can help yourself. If your alone or with a companion and have time kill I highly recommend you stop by, everyone speaks great English as most Scandinavians do, and the prices are reasonable for what your getting.

This is one of the few really old cafes left in Stockholm, and one of my favorites. They have a wide selection of buns, cakes and sandwiches and other goodies. There are many rooms of different sizes, where you can hide.

So i heard this place has the original recipe for princess cake. It was great but i am not huge fan of marzipan so i didnt enjoy it that much. The raspberry layer in the bottom was great though! Very sour :) The budapest cake was the bomb! I love it so much… So much almond. Nice texture, not too richy or creamy:) The semla here was good but I personally prefer Tosse’s. I felt like the bun here was a bit too spiced/seasoned and wasnt well baked. Too dry but the almond cream was sooo gooooood. :) The place is always packed although it is pretty big with secret backroom in the back. There is also another cashier in the back or if you get in toward the side entrance(there is a sign pointing into a random building/apartment) then you will get to the backroom :)

Had a lovely Semla and a delicious hot chocolate. It took a long time in the queue, but otherwise the place is beautiful, looks really French.

Really delicious pastries! I came here originally for the kanel, because the internet had said this is one of the best places for it. But then I read Unilocal and TripAdvisor reviews and they all said to get the Semla and there were some good reviews for the pistachio pastry, so I got a Semla classic mini(I wish I had gotten the original size!), a pistachio pastry, and a kanelbulle. I didn’t eat all of them at once — in fact, I came here before my 10-hr flight back home. In fact, half the pistachio pastry and the entire kanelbulle made it back home. Anyway, the semla was amazing! The cream was light and fluffy, and whatever flavoring right under the cream(cardamom?) was good too. The bread with it was light and fluffy too, really good! I really enjoyed that pastry. It wasn’t too sweet either. The pistachio pastry was interesting, although I could do without the sugar on top. Good flavoring, and crunchy outside, chewy bread, really good! Unique bread that I haven’t had or seen in many other places(or maybe I wasn’t looking). The kanelbulle was full of flavor, and again, the bread was great. Highly recommend this place; everything’s 2 – 3SEK cheaper if you take it to go, but the ambiance looks nice there! The place is really big, and there are a lot of tables; the setting is sort of like a tea house and very quaint. Plus, the staff there are all really friendly and cheerful! Definitely stop by if you’re in Stockholm! It’s on Kungsgatan, so chances are you’ll be around the area anyway.

Swedish fika is a daily pastry-and-coffee break ritual that sounded absolutely entrancing to this American visitor. Even though I don’t have the strongest sweet tooth in the world, I made it my mission to stake out pastries and coffee for breakfast one day during our visit, figuring the homeland of fika must do something right in the bakery department. Enter Vete-Katten, a cute bakery that reminded me of someone’s home in the sense that it has sprawling rooms filled with furniture that would not be out of place in your grandmother’s parlor. We waited in the long but fast-moving line to pick out three pastries to share: A pistachio Danish, a bun filled with vanilla custard, and a cardamom roll. We also had two cappucinos. The pastries were delicious and unusual(for our palates). They weren’t as heavily sweetened as what I’m used to in the US, which is a good thing(see: weak sweet tooth). The pistachio and the vanilla cream pastries were both fairly delicate in flavor. The cardamom pastry had a strong taste, so I found myself reserving it for the finale of the meal – otherwise, it overwhelmed the other options. The coffee was disappointing for a café of this type; not terrible, but not good either. Despite the size of the café, it was tough to score a seat in Vete-Katten. People seemed to put their belongings on tables before getting in line, which reduces the number of available seats at any moment. That said, there are lots of cozy nooks to sit in if you’re able to snag one. Recommended, especially for the pistachio and vanilla cream pastries.

Vete Katten could be much better but in years, where other places evolved, Vete Katten stayed same. Coffee 3 out of 5 Desserts 3 out of 5 Sandwiches 2 out of 5

Really nice bakery with a great selection of goods and great service. A friend and I stopped by on a weekday morning and picked up a variety of baked goods. Being not from the area, we asked for suggestions and were given a lot of helpful ideas, and all of the baked goods were delicious, particularly a almond marzipan pastry that I think was called the mazariner. We also were able to procure three slices of princess cake, a sponge cake with raspberries, and it was delicious. Not too sweet and a nice hard layer on the outside. If I returned, I would definitely come back and try some of the other sets of pastries that they had.

Classy, delicious, coffee and pastry shop in the heart of Stockholm. Free refills on the coffee which is rare for Europe. Try the apple pastry and you won’t regret it. We ended up coming here 3 times on our 3 day trip!

What I had: Kanelbulle(cinnamon bun), some sort of dome shapped pastry hollow in the middle with a fried vanilla bean pudding of sorts + Coffee Would I go back?: Most definitely — if you’re staying by the city center this place is a go to for pastries Story: Came here during my first trip to Sweden. I had read about this place on tripadvisor and after some wandering around the city i stopped in around 5:30 to have some coffee and pastry. I had the unnamed pastry during my first visit and it was amazing coffee was delicious as well. The ambiance is a pleasant beautiful 20’s style café setting, self serve coffee — sat here and read for a while and took in some good people watching. Came here the next morning for my cinnamon bun — delectable it had hints of cardamom which i love. Next visit i will definitely be back

I came here to try their Semla because I’ve read a few good things about this cute bakery. It really is so cute! The interior design is very classy. Atmosphere is very elegant and there are a lot of pastry options. Prices are fair considering it’s Scandinavia. Staff were really friendly too! This café is perfect for afternoon tea time. This was my first Semla and it was unique. The bun was very soft and lightly sweetened. The cream was a bit heavy but the almond paste was delicious! I had the Dijon sandwich as well and it was ordinary. Nothing over the top. My friend had the Princess Cake. At first it tasted pretty good until the more you eat it, the sweeter it gets. Haha!

OMG Semla, Semlor you name it. I mean how many places claim they have the best in town? Many… and this is one of them. Please do not go to Tempo for instance and buy those two pack deals like my bf did a couple of weeks back — it was not good. It was terrible! The cream was soo… well, this is not about Tempo. If you didn’t have Semla this year go to Vete Katten! If you are lactose intolerant and still want to enjoy a Semla go to Vete Katten! They have lactose free Semla! Heaven for ME! … and if you are cheap then don’t go to Vete Katten! Try Tempo, no don’t really.

Voltarei sem dúvidas, me aguarde Estocolmo.
