This was a neat little restaurant off the beaten path in Stockholm. The menu was simple, just the way I like it. In fact the drink menu may have had more items. They serve lots of wines, a few nice beers and mixed drinks. Tried salmon, salted herring and Swedish meatballs. By far I like the salted herring the best. Its classified as a starter item but I could have eaten two or three plates of it. It was sitting on a bed of scrambled eggs. Meatballs were good, the paring with cucumber and cranberries made this an interesting dish. The salmon was fresh but I did not like the potato it was sitting on. Service was a bit slow but I think that was the point with this place, to slow things down, have a nice meal and enjoy company. At least with the ambience, that is what I felt. Keeping it classy but in a casual way. Staff was friendly. Great place.

Swedish food, but not so many Swedish traditional dishes. My last visit was dissappointing, food was not so good.

Fantastic! Just fantastic. Whoever works in the kitchen of this place really has a palate and knows what he/she is doing! Great service, cute restaurant ambience. Top notch!

Had a friend from Stockholm take me here and I had a great meal. I can’t remember which appetizers we ordered but they were all very good. I had for my entrée the Meatballs and they were delicious. I would love to go back and try a different more adventurous Swedish meal. I was pleasantly surprised they split the bill for all six in our party so they made it very convenient for all of us.

Awesome«svensk husman» at descent prices! Good sound level too, but make a reservation.

Swedish meatballs were DELISH! Serving sizes of entrees were great, but felt the appetizers were on the smaller side and overpriced.

Very good service, clean and simple atmosphere, everything is freshly made. Would definitely recommend it! For three main courses and a side salad we had a total of 680SEK which seems pretty good to me considering the quality of the food! Well done!

Best meatballs ever! I was staying close to the restaurant and decided to walk in on an afternoon with no references. Ended up having a fantastic dinner experience. This meatballs were definitely the highlight of my Sweden culinary experience. The place is trendy and lively at night, overall great traditional Swedish food.

Tradition Vasastan is by far the best Swedish restaurant I’ve been to! Everything is amazing! The interior is very clean and stylish Scandinavian. I have tried almost all their dishes by now, and, being Swedish, all I can say is that this is the best Swedish food you can find. Especially for the money they charge. Very well made food, from scratch, with super good ingreadients, to a very affordable price. Starting off with Tre små klassiker(Three small classics) can’t go wrong. The Sikaforsröra(smoked reindeer) is amazing. This time I had the matjessill(pickled herring), which is served with chopped eggs and chives. A Swedish delicacy at it’s best. It goes well with a nice beer, when the waitress discreetly suggested a nubbe(Swedish snaps) with it, I couldn’t resist a Skåné, which made it even better! Regarding the main courses, I missed their amazing Kroppkakor(traditional dish from the island of Öland in the south of Sweden), which apparently is only appearing spontaneously. If they have them, then I suggest getting them, since they are as good as the ones you get on Öland! I had their stekt senapspanerad strömming(fried mustard breaded Baltic herring), which I’m usually avoiding in restaurants, but this one was super good. Served with potato purée and lingonberries, it was a sure hit! My company had the meatballs, and if you haven’t been to Sweden before and only had«Swedish» meatballs in Italian restaurants in the US, or at IKEA, then you should definitely try these ones, with brown sauce and classic trimmings(also including lingonberries of course!). Their blodpudding(black pudding) is home made and amazing — nothing like the one you buy at ICA. Oxbringan is amazing, and the Biff Rydberg is just to die for! I could eat three servings of this one any day. Amazing food, great service, nice atmosphere, and very good prices gives this restaurant the top position in my list of restaurants in Stockholm!

On a business trip to Stockholm and wanted to eat traditional Swedish food. A colleague suggested this place and gave rave reviews so had to try it! Well I wasn’t disappointed. The food is absolutely lovely, you can really see the chefs put quality as a top priority. The service is very friendly too. Be aware that it is quite small so does get very busy, I suggest booking a table whenever possible. I always make sure to find some time for Tradition whenever I’m in Stockholm.

I came for lunch looking for Swedish meatballs but ended up getting the lamb patty lunch special. Food in Scandinavia is incredibly expensive, so it definitely helps when restaurants have lunch specials. The lamb patty was like a giant Swedish meatball and it was delicious! Also came with veggies, potatoes, bread and salad, all for 115 krona. Not a bad deal for lunch.

Came here with a group from work for dinner. If you have more than 4 people, be sure to make a reservation. I got the beef rydburg. Meat was very tender and seasoned well. It comes with fried potatoes but mine had too much oil on them. I still ate them but they could be better. I had rose hip something for dessert. Had no clue what it was when I ordered. I was told it was very traditional Swedish but I still pictured something pink in a bowl(rose hip = rose color in my mind). What I got was vanilla ice cream with some ginger cookies and a rose hip sauce that was an orangy brown. It tasted great, familiar but I couldn’t really tell what it reminded me of. Probably the second best dessert I had while in Sweden.

+ great traditional and seasonal food + great lunch + affordable(!) + nice interior — disrespectful waitress(unprofessional) — average service in general — not well educated service staff — they should know what to drink with the food and not to reach over already served food. Lunch is better then dinner here.

Got there with friends. Needs reservation even during workdays, especially, if you are more than just a romantic couple. Nice atmosphere, interesting cuisine, focused on local Swedish dishes. Not a place for«just eating», will be disappointed. This place is for spending the evening in good company, when you have something to talk about, while waiting for your order. Interior is Swedish-style also(read — IKEA-style ;)) Very tasty pale ale beer on tap, and interesting sometimes even unexpectedly cooked food. Good place for visitors, seeking for the atmosphere and possibility to taste not the bar-style snack, but Swedish food

The lunch specials were hard to choose from: beef stroganoff, salmon, or a beef patty with onions. All were about 115SEK and included a salad, delicious bread and a small salad. Everyone was friendly and they also offered a menu in English. It was starting to get busy at lunchtime, so it might be a good idea to go a bit early.

— Pleasant but slow service. — Interior decoration feels a bit like the canteen at IKEA. — Food is «okay»: not bad, but far from great. — All things considered, price is too high.

Nice Swedish cuisine. Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Selection of dishes we enjoyed were the Swedish caviar, Swedish pickled herring, smoked reindeer and mustard breaded Baltic herring. All very good.

This may have been the best meal I have had in a restaurant in at least 5 years. The entrée, roasted beef brisket with new potatoes, roasted root vegetables in a cream sauce with freshly grated mild horseradish on top was about as close to perfect as you can get. The appetizer was excellent. Wonderful lingondrykke, and the rye/fennel bread was superb.
