I love food halls and markets but Söderhallarna tends to make me a bit sad. This area of Stockholm deserves so much better than this. They have plenty of space but most of the food sold here is not that interesting and the quality does not match the price. I am fine to pay extra when shopping in a nice food hall but this place lacks atmosphere, character and also offers nothing special. The only really good place here is the small Systembolaget store, they still have the old style set-up where you have to go the counter and tell them what you want and then they bring it to you. This is perhaps not in general preferred compared to browsing yourself but since they are knowledgeable here I do enjoy chatting a bit about wine with them. This food hall is also a mix of food hall and shopping mall as there are some ‘normal’ shops as well so there is the English Shop, a pharmacy, a optician and a few other stores but that just adds to the slightly confusing and unorganized feel of the place. I prefer going elsewhere.

Söderhallarna is just fine and dandy — but there’s nothing that stands out about it. As far as a food and delicatessen hall goes, Östermalms saluhall is way better — it’s fancier and more expensive, but at least it’s interesting. Söderhallarna is… well, kinda boring. The Hötorget food hall is also more fun than this. Söderhallarna is nice because it’s on Söder, but that’s about it. There are shops here, but not many, and the only one I really visit is the English Shop. There’s a movie theatre here, but it’s old and doesn’t have many seats. There’s some bad fast food here, and some decent lunch places. It’s all fine. But not great. I thought about three stars, but I really feel like there is nothing that positively distinguishes Söderhallarna — it’s not awful, but it has nothing that makes it shine or even glow. It’s just, well, meh.

This shopping center on Sodermalm’s largest square is conveniently located and has a variety of shops. The farmer’s market(Saluhall) for Sodermalm is also located here. While I see they had all the well-stocked food stands one might need for a shopping excursion, for a visitor the food hall lacked the charm and interest that the great market hall in Ostermalm possesses. Also the design for navigation around this shopping center can be a little tricky, and accessing a WC is even trickier yet!

This is one of the weirdest malls in Stockholm. Not a place I’d go to to do general shopping, but if you’re looking for specialty foods for a party or dinner this is a decent place to go. The Systembolaget store here is specialized in wines and has a better than average selection of them, other than that there’s little positive to be said about this mall that was hip in the 90’s. The layout is confusing, and the selection of stores other than food is random and weird.

I found this place a bit hard to orient myself at. Do not head right when you enter, the elevators won’t take you to the shopping. There are loads of nice stalls with cool stuff and amazing food. Very pricy, but I guess you have to live with that. Just shop with your eyes closed! There are plenty of restaurants satisfying most palates. And not only stalls but also shops — The English Shop being my favourite.
