This was an excellent meal. My waiter spoke pretty good English and explained each dish to me. He kind of looked like Jeremy Piven(from Entourage) a little bit so I kind of cracked up inside every time he would talk to me. He spoke slowly and always made sure that everything was great. He asked a bunch of times«Everything ok?» and I just said«Yes, everything is great.» I think pretty much everyone eats here after doing their research on tripadvisor so most of the patrons are visiting from overseas. The night I ate here there was a Korean couple from NYC, a group of 4 people from the UK, a couple from Germany, etc. I was one of 2 solo diners as there was another guy from the US but he was sitting on the other side of the restaurant so we couldn’t converse. BTW, this isn’t really a great restaurant to solo dine. The dishes come out pretty slowly(maybe every 20 – 30 minutes) so all in all you are looking at a 3+ hour meal with a lot of waiting in between. With nobody else to talk to it can be a bit of a drag but as you can see, I was able to eavesdrop a lot… The food is exquisite and inventive so I do highly recommend this place for any serious foodie.

Great little restaurant. You can only order the tasting menu — but it’s such a beautiful selection of Swedish cuisine that you wouldn’t want anything else — absolutely delightful food. The staff create a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and explain each dish as they bring it out. The restaurant itself is quite small and casual, which adds to the personalised vibe. Definitely would recommend.

Food in Scandinavia is ridiculously expensive! You will often find meatballs with mashed potatoes in heavy tourist traffic areas for the equivalent of $ 25 per plate. Less travelled areas will still see pretty similar prices. That’s why I love this particular restaurant. For around $ 70 per person you will experience an amazing 7 course tasting menu with excellent food and beautifully plated, easily worthy of a Michelin star. The depth of flavor and texture in every dish had everyone in our group more than satisfied. I thoroughly enjoyed the scallop, chicken liver, and cod dishes most. Service was excellent. The only knock would be the length of time we spent here. It was about a 3.5 hour experience, which is a little bit too long. However, without reservation, this was the best fine-dining meal I’ve had so far this year.

Smorgastarteriet is a true gem of a dining establishment. One of the most enjoyable meals in memory, anywhere in the world. First, it is an easy, 5min walk from the Odenplan station of the T(metro/subway). The dining room itself is very small. Our group of 4 was seated at the communal table of 8. Tight seating. But the staff somehow manages to make you feel as if you are not all squished in; I don’t know how to explain it. The bacon dusted popcorn is brilliant. If they could package the stuff and sell it in the US… life would be even better. The dinner is a gustatory journey across the various regions of Sweden. The chef manages to use molecular gastronomy and interesting service vessels(little clay plant pots, for example) without feeling gimmicky. The dishes were the highest level of thought and concept, very tasty, very delicious, but simultaneously felt satisfying(like the best home cooking makes you feel). Brilliant Swedish food. Every dish made me want to lick the plate. For those of you from Washington DC, I don’t know how else to put Smorgastarteriet in context other than the way my dining partner put it: «It makes(the restaurant with the 20+ course meal) seem amateurish.» The chef at Smorgastarteriet presents the highest level of molecular gastronomy cooking as a fully formed concept. It’s what other chefs strive to do. No need to stop at Taco Bell after dinner, if you get my meaning. This is one of the best dining experiences that one could be fortunate enough to enjoy. If I could eat there again today, I would. Five stars.

Awesome place, with fantastic food. The interior is aesthetic and fancy. The staff is very friendly, unobtrusive and helpful, The portions are small, that’s right, but the taste is terrific. The Food is freshly made in an open kitchen. The restaurant can be easily reached by Public Transport(Tunnelbana Station Odenplan).

Great swedish cuisine, interpretation of local recipes with excellence and oroginality. The tasting menu is a good imtroduction, and it seems to change to reflect the seasonal produces.

some of the best food I have ever had. Can’t wait to go back. The portions are small but the taste is out of this world. We got this really small cup of mushroom soup before the starter. It was the best thing I have ever tasted. I normally hate mushrooms
