Sjöhistoriska Museet could be one of the most boring museums I have ever been to in my life. It’s free(I see why now) and lacks any passion from the staff(that I met). Getting to Sjöhistoriska Museet is not too hard, either by walking, SL or bike. The location is amazing and the building is fantastic. But once inside, it’s too warm, there is no real guide or suggested route or even a over all theme apart from ‘Boats’. Most museums like this have a ‘Boats of the 17th Century’ section and some kind of collection, but not here. I went during the Sailors Tattoo exhibition which was not much better. Just a few walls with some text about tattoo practices for sailors, a few iPads where you could add your own tattoo to a photo and one old tattoo machine. I tried to get interested but the mix of heat and badly presented information just put me off. This museum has some potential but needs a total overhaul in its layout, theme and what the museum curators actually want to achieve with it. Finally, café staff could not have cared about customer service less, and I don’t think they even made eye contact when I bought Fika for 3 people. Overall, disappointing and such as shame.
