We ended up here when the pub next door was closed for renovations. Walking into an sports bar was NOT what we wanted at the time. It was immediately clear than anyone else who was there had a game that they were there to watch… although it wasn’t rowdy, it was noisy with multiple games competing to be heard. Struggling for alternatives, we found a seat away from all the noise, although we had to be pushy Americans to do so(sorry about that!!!). We ordered few pitchers of local beer, and low and behold everything seemed to be ok. My Father was set on a salad with balsamic vinegar and oil, which prompted some concern from the waitress. She came back with the owner who informed us that they did not have any, but that someone would go out personally to pick some up. Now that is service you simply don’t see in the States. All the chain restaurants just keep everything on hand, or you don’t get it. Freshness is secondary. I ordered the portobello burger, and expected to have the same old plain Jane portobello burger that’s often an alternative to meat(which is clearly the star) in the states. I took a bite. I should have known. Local and fresh has a whole new meaning. It was amazing.

O’learys is a sports bar and like any other sports bar, it’s packed with television sets and quite a pricey menu. The food is okay, what you typically get from a regular sports bar. The drinks are on the expensive side. The good part is, when there is an important sports event, the place gets packed so make sure you pick a side to make dining and howling more worthwhile.
