Nalen

This is a really nice concert venue for enjoying your favorite bands. I saw Katy Perry here (true story). Suede. Red House Painters. And most lately I saw Josh Rouse and even though he claimed to be crazy hung over I believe that the venue gave the band enough energy to play several encores and deliver the perfect ending to a 70 shows around the world tour. Only downsides would be the small wardrobes (try to ha d in your coat early on) as well as the limited choices of food and beverages in the bar. Eat before you come here and just enjoy the atmosphere.

I’m a simple gal, all I ask for is glitter, a ballroom & a well stocked bar.
Thankfully, Nalen delivered.
Having seen the reviews for the restaurant after the fact, i’m a little sad I didn’t get to partake but I did spend a lovely evening at the Nalen in the company of showgirls, drag queens and more of less fabulous people. I had run away to Stockholm for the weekend to catch The Stockholm International Burlesque Festival and this was the scene of the crime for the Saturday evening show. Having seen many a burlesque show (we’re into the hundreds at least), I can safely say: holy. moly.
What an exquisite venue for burlesque! Or really, any live performance. The place is stunning, with that big ol’ vaulted ceiling and all the swoon worthy details you’d expect from a ballroom. But beyond the decadence, the Nalen nails a few key components to a great performance venue: they have a uncomplicated coat check, speedy bar service, multiple bars and more than one room. Off the main ballroom, there is a smaller space, which was a perfect «pre-​show» room.
They also have a damn fine lighting set up and sound system. My only eyebrow raise of the night was that the stage is quite high and if it was a seated event, I feel like it would hinder the sight lines. On the flip side, having a three hour standing event can kill the tootsies by the end of the evening… i’m not sure which is the lesser of two evils here.
But beyond that little detail, I thoroughly enjoyed my evening here.

I’ve eaten at the best restaurants in Stockholm and this is by far my favorite! They serve reindeer, suckling pig, hake fish, and so many more interesting dishes. The pig was my choice and it was incredible!

Where do I begin really? The place is so nice, the staff are extremely prepared and know their food and wine. The waitress came with the best wine ever and the starter and the main dish (reindeer and duck) were out of this world! UNIQUE tastes right after each other. Almost overwhelming!
Can’t say anything else. Just go in and be ready for an experience!
