Fantastic summer day in Stockholm at this gathering of food trucks on Skeppsholmen. Great choices, friendly and helpful people, and a superb atmosphere. Stockholmers are most fortunate to have this. I would make this a regular summer weekend thing if I lived here.

Matholmen gathers many of Stockholm’s food trucks at Skeppsholmen on summertime weekends, with loungey seating and a great view of Djurgården, Strandvägen, and lots of boats. It markets itself as Sweden’s largest food truck fair, and it really is quite big. I had been seeing and reading a lot about Matholmen and decided to make my way over there one Saturday afternoon when I was starting to feel a little peckish. I take it the food trucks present will vary each weekend because when I was there, quite a few of the trucks listed on Matholmen’s website weren’t there. hrrm. So who was there? A lot of BBQish/meat-y trucks, with burgers. A lot of Latino-ish trucks. One with donuts, one with dumplings. A crabshack. So you’d think there’s something for everyone. well I can’t help but feel overwhelmingly underwhelmed by food trucks in Sweden/Stockholm. Most are, again, really meat-focused with few veggie options — usually a variation of a cheese or mushroom burger. Little to no seafood-fish trucks. Dessert? Shakes? Chocolate? Let’s get all the food groups in, guys!

Oh yes, finally there is an assembly of foodtrucks in the city! I have tried chicken wraps with pomegranate and a mango lassi, pulled chicken in homemade cornbread, a thai stew, meze(falafel, baba ganoush, hommus etc.) and a halloumiburger here and overall I think that that food has been of high quality and swiftly served. If you are visiting Moderna Museet or Östasiatiska museet and are travelling on a shoestring it is a great idea to stroll to the back of the museums down by the water to consume your lunch @ around 75 – 120SEK. The foodtrucks are there every Satur– and Sunday 11 – 17 o’clock until the 27th of September. It is also possible to purchase and drink beer and cider within the inclosure.
